Wine and Love v6

Here is this week's wine and love, concept thought up by the lovely Nora

Wine:
  • My amazing ability to get sinus infections at inoportune moments (not that there is ever a good time to get sick).  I got a sinus infection the week of Christmas, right before leaving for Paris, and the week of the CFA exam.  It was lovely answering questions with a pounding sinus headache.
  • Missing the cut-off for canceling my bus pass for July by 2 days.  There goes $76.
  • The chaos that is my condo right now.  Boxes, boxes, everywhere!  I move 3 weeks from tomorrow!!
  • Tuesday night was exhausting.  I ran way too many errands in one night and it was over 100 degrees.
  • But then Wednesday sucked even more.  I couldn't find a dress in my closet that I recently had altered.  No idea where it could have gone.  Then I got a speeding ticket on the way to my park & ride (first speeding ticket ever, so pissed at myself).  So I then missed my bus so got to work later than I like to.  To calm myself down, I pulled out "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and got to a super sad part and then proceeded to cry.  On a packed bus.  Mortifying.
Love:
  • Getting my first article published at work last week.  The article is about an investment product called STRIPS.  I won't bore you with an explanation of what they are because I know it's only interesting to me.  My boss and I had lots of laughs trying to come up with a good title for the article that wasn't risque.  Because you couldn't really entitle it, "Stripping for money" or "Intro to Stripping" or "Finding Value in Stripping" for obvious reasons.
  • Cutting into an avocado that is PERFECTLY ripe!  Yea!  Now if they would just come down in price a bit!
  • Peach black iced teas from Caribou.  Be still my heart.  And they started a frequency program, every 8th drink is free, which is a good deal, I think!
  • The fact that I move in 3 weeks.  Yes, I am a bit stressed by all I have to do, but I am going to be done with suburbia very soon!

  1. Moving is mucho stressful. Our resistance seems to go down in times of stress making us more susceptible to things like sinus infections. Good luck with the move!

  2. Oh my gosh, Tuesday evening/Wednesday sounded rough! But that's HILARIOUS about the article! Yay for moving in three weeks! Does your new place have central air?

  3. Oh boy!!! I always get sick at the worst times too so I hear you!

I am still laughing about your stripping article. What did you end up calling it?

  4. Congratulations on the article! Uugh at least your stuff is in boxes. Mine is just EVERYWHERE! Moving will be SOOOO worth it though...I think for both of us, hah!

  5. Totally laughed re: the stripping comment and article. I love it.

I can't believe you move in 3 weeks. How exciting!!!!

  6. I get sick over the winter break every year. It's like clock work. Within 48 hours of grading the last final exam, I go down for the count. This past year I luckily only had a cold instead of the horrific bronchitis I got the year before.

Moving is always an ordeal. I've done it about 30 times now, so you would think I would be better at it, but no. Good luck with the packing!

  7. You had a reason to "wine" on Wednesday! With the speeding ticket and the parking ticket, that hurts! Ouch! Hang in there - in 3 weeks you'll be in your new place - but it will take a few weeks to get settled, I'm sure! Hope your infection has cleared up by now!

  8. That sucks that you missed the cut off for the bus pass by two days! Even though you won't need it once you move, maybe you will have to take some bus rides to make it worth it :)

Good luck finishing up packing and I hope the move goes well!

  10. Ahh Tuesday & Wednesday sounds just awful! You're absolutely bound to have days like this when you're in the process of a move I've decided.

The only benefit I'm finding in AZ's dry climate is the fact that I have way less sinus infections than when I lived in a moldy/humid climate.

CONGRATS on your 1st published article!! That is awesome :) -- and the story about finding a name made me laugh out loud!! Too funny!

  11. Your Wednesday morning sounds like one of those days where you wouldn't even be surprised if the bus broke down and left you on the side of the road! :( On a positive note though; isn't the Art of Racing in the Rain absolutely amazing?!

  12. Hahaha about your article. That is really funny and totally makes sense.

I am obsessed with avocado's lately, though last night I cut into one that was NOT ripe at all :( Boo!

  14. Hi Lisa - I am really happy for you that your CFA test, or at least the first one, is done and that you are moving downtown! That will be so fun for you!!

BTW - I 'like' Caribou on facebook and saw that tomorrow it is a double-stamp day if you get any blended drink. Not sure if you like their blended beverages, but I wanted to share that info if you hadn't heard.

Good luck with your packing and moving! (And I'm really sorry to hear about the ticket on Wednesday. No fun!)

  15. Hell yes for a Caribou rewards program. I cannot wait to see pics of the new apartment.

I cried during that book as well. Hope you're feeling better.
