Before the craziness of the week sets in, I wanted to do a quick recap of my trip to visit Nora. Unfortunatelly I totally failed on capturing our weekend on film. Oops. Must work on that! Here are some of the highlights from the weekend, bullet point style!
- Birthday Gift! Giving Nora an early birthday present, which was a scarf that I knit for her! Nora loves scarves and they are sort of a signature accessory for her, so I figured she'd appreciate a hand-made one. Hopefully she will post a photo of it because I stupidly forgot to take one (and I didn't have much time as I finished it just a day before my trip to visit her!)
- BBQ! The BBQ on Saturday with Nora & Knight and their girls, and Nilsa, her husband, and their adorable son Gavin! It was my first time "meeting" Nilsa, but I have read her blog for 2+ years (I think?) so it felt like we'd known each other for ages. I love it when you meet people and instantly click - that was totally the case with Nilsa! I am looking forward to meeting up with her again, hopefully the when I go to Chicago for work next month (totally forgot to add that trip to the traveling fool post last week!)
- The Girls! After hearing many stories about Knight's daughters, I finally got to meet them. Oh my gosh, they are adorable. From the "I need time to get stylish in the morning" comments to story telling to requests for me to hold their hand, they won be over. And made me feel quite popular!
- Magazines! Nora and I spent a good chunk of time flipping through magazines while drinking wine. From cooking magazines to wedding magazines, we entertained ourselves for hours!
- Bon Fire! On Saturday night, Nora, Knight, and I headed outside and ended the night by sitting around a bon fire. S'mores we eaten. Stories were shared. Future life changes were discussed. It was the perfect way to end the day.
What was the highlight of your weekend?

That sounds like a wonderful weekend!! I cannot wait to meet Nora in January!
The highlight of my weekend was definitely Iowa State beating Iowa in the biggest rivalry of the year! ISU is my alma mater and we rarely beat our in-state rival, U of I. Although I was in class during the entire game I was following the game via Twitter (which worked out beautifully) and felt like I was actually there!
What a great time! I hope Nora at least took some pictures! :)
The highlight of my weekend was my niece being here - she's so much fun, at such a great age! I'm sad I have to go to work this morning instead of seeing her and my brother/SIL off!
Glad you girls had a great time :) I can't wait to see the scarf you knitted for Nora. I was just saying that the ONLY positive thing about winter coming is scarf weather!
It sounds like a great weekend! The highlight of my weekend was having dinner with my running group on Friday night as a send off for the Sioux Falls Marathon and half - a lot of the group was running in it.
That sounds like such a fun weekend! I've heard so many adorable stories about the girls, I'm kind of jealous you got to meet them. :)
I'm looking to meet some of my favorite bloggers over the next few months and I'm so nervous things will be awkward! I hope we click like you seem to have done with all your blog meet-ups! :)
The highlight of my weekend was NFL football starting. Sooo happy it's back!
Sounds like a perfect weekend! Glad you were able to get away for a little escape!
Work kind of hindered my weekend.....but the highlight was probably making wings and watching football with Ryan last night. Or my 6 mile run yesterday morning where it was 75 DEGREES OUT! It has not been that cool in the morning since probably April.
Sounds fabulous! I am glad that you had oh so much fun with Nora and Nilsa. I cant wait to hear more about your visit and about the girls.
The highlight of my weekend was buying a washer and dryer. Its used but I don't care. I'm just really glad that I'll be able to have that in my apt in GA.
Sounded like a perfect weekend! So glad you got to meet the "girls"!
The highlight of my weekend was doing some much needed yard work and washing my car! I love to cross off things on me to-do list!
I'm so glad you had such a fabulous weekend! Can't wait to see a pic of the scarf you knitted Nora, what a sweet gift idea!
The highlight of my weekend was probably boating on Friday and/or having girl time on Saturday night. It was a really fun weekend all around :-)
Aw, it sounds like you guys had an amazing time- I'm so glad!! :)
Lisa - SUCH a treat to meet you, too. I know my blog post didn't do our time justice. You're spot on with the "we clicked" ... and please please please let me know when you'll be in Chicago next. Whether there is enough time to get you to our place for a meal or just enough time for me to sneak in a drink with you, I'd love to see you again!!
Sounds like tons of fun! I love your bullet point, exclamation point style!
I had a great weekend with a friend of mine who I haven't seen in a long time. We spent most of the time chatting about this and that, eating and thrift store shopping -- I bought a number of books that I cannot mention in public.
It sounds practically perfect in every way! I'm so glad -- you've had a crazy spring -- you deserve some R&R.
My weekend? A beautiful beachy wedding -- hopefully I'll blog on it, if I can ever grab a few minutes!
Magazines and wine sounds PERFECT!! I really enjoyed my friend's birthday on Friday night. We had a BBQ, drank wine, and then went out to do some karaoke.
