The month of December is going to be a good one for me, and I will definitely focus on showing those in my life how much I love and appreciate them throughs acts both big and small. And similar to last year, I will also be spreading some love to a stranger by partcipating in The 12 Days of Love Letter Writing! It is an unconventional way to spread love, but I know I have been touched by the kindness of others so hopefully this small act on my part helps brighten someone's days.
Today I am writing a letter to Winnie. Here is Winnie's story:
Winnie is a first year graduate student who is living on the East Coast for the first time. She is originally from the west coast where her whole family is. In addition to being an awesome person who juggles schoolwork, social life and classes, she is also battling a chronic autoimmune disease. Her letter requester writers,"She balances all these things with strength, optimism and grace. She puts on a brave face for those around her who don't even know she is sick but I know there are times she worries and gets scared about her health limiting her in what she can do. Any words to encourage or advise her in keeping her head up high or that there is a light at the end of the tunnel even when it's hard to see or believe, would be very much appreciated." We need your cursive to help Winnie see how much the world values her strength and loves her without question.
Will you join me in this love letter writing movement? If so, you can write a letter to Winnie by next Tuesday, December 18th. The letter can be sent to:

Have you been on the receiving end of an act of kindness from a stranger? One act of kindness that stands out in my mind is the time when I returned to my car at the end of a work day and found that someone had cleared all the many inches of snow that had fallen over the course of the day.

Random acts of kindness have certainly made my day before; anything from holding a door open for me to one person once buying my lunch without me knowing it! The snow one is really awesome; my old roommate did that for me once and I was so appreciative!
I am trying to think if I have ever been on the end of a random act of kindness, but I don't think so. That is pretty awesome that someone did that for you!
That act of kindness that someone did for you has always impressed me! I love this idea of random acts of kindness, if only to smile at a clerk when you check out at a store as they are very stressed at this time of year!
I think random acts of kindness are the best. It could be as simple as holding open a door or even greeting someone eye to eye and saying hello (seems to never happen in big cities these days). One of my most memorable acts of kindness were all the many strangers on the New York subway who offered me their seats when I was pregnant. I loved the idea that such a big, metropolitan city is full of some pretty amazing people! It was so memorable, because no one in Chicago ever did. It was so memorable, because no one in Chicago ever did (shame on my hometown!).
I love the 12 days of love letter writing project, I think it is such a fantastic idea and a great way to brighten someones day and life. I'm hoping to get a few letters in the mail this week and weekend for the project!
I have been participating in the 12 days of letter writing also. It is such a great idea!
how cool!
Yes! Thank you for writing this letter! So glad you're participating again!!!
Hi Lisa,
What an engaging topic! I try to do random acts of kindness when the opportunity arises. And they have happened to me.
Once, when my husband and I bought an antique and could not put it in our car, a woman with a van said she'd take it to our home for us. And she did.
We were really grateful!
Glad you have joined in the l;ove letter writing adventure.

A recent random act of kindness I experienced was when my neighbor shoveled my front walk and driveway one morning before work. It seriously saved me from being REALLY late for work.
This is wonderful! And yes, I've been the recipient of random acts of kindness -- some large and some small and every one meaningful. It's something I try to do, too -- paying back or paying forward? It doesn't really matter -- it just feels good.
