We Gave Thanks

Why yes, it is the 5th of December and I am just getting around to recapping my Thanksgiving.  Better late than never, right?  I mean, I spent 10 posts talking about all the things I was thankful for, I can't not recap the actual day of Thanksgiving!

I had a really wonderful time with my family up at the lake.  I feel like I have been living life at a frantic pace lately, so it was nice to go up north and have a chance to slow down and relax a bit.  Plus, there is really nothing like being in the cocoon of your parents home.  I was barely on my phone, ate a lot, read a lot, relaxed a lot, and soaked up the time with my parents, grandma, siblings,  sister- and brother-in-law, and nephews!  And I got to meet my cousin's newborn baby (but sadly have no photos of holding her little guy!).

But - I did get some other great photos on my iPhone, so I'll let the pictures do the talking!

James and Andrew are about 10 months apart and they are the best of friends!

Piled on the couch after dinner with 3 of my nephews - I love that they are all wearing stripes (why wasn't I???)!

Of course, the weekend would not be complete without a game of Scrabble with my grandma.  She beat me as usual!  She is SO good!

I could not get over how much Charlie has changed in the last 3 months!

The weather turned colder on Thanksgiving day and it began to snow.  The look on Charlie's face matches how I felt about seeing snow...  I am not ready for winter (the snow has since melted).

I capped off the holiday weekend by showing my nephew James how to play Words with Friends.  He did really good!

My Thanksgiving weekend was a bit short, as I came back on Saturday morning so I could pack, run errands, and have a date night before heading to California for 8 days!  I'm obviously back from that trip (which was wonderful, albeit a little bit on the long side) and hopefully I will get a chance to recap my time there next week!

I know Thanksgiving is a distant memory for most, but if you celebrated it, what was your favorite part of the holiday?  My favorite part was being around family - especially my nephews.  I can not imagine a holiday without kids around - they keep things light and funny and always make me laugh.  I'm so so lucky that I am an aunt to 5 fantastic nephews and 1 adorable niece!

Your nephews are SO cute!!! I am so glad you had the opportunity to slow down for a few days!

We had Audra for the first time for Thanksgiving so that was a lot of fun!

Hahaha I love the snow picture- I felt the same way about snow near us last Saturday, I woke up and said out loud "UGH" haha. I have no idea why I live in Boston, really.

Also if your grandma always beats you at Scrabble- she must be ridiculous! After playing Words with Friends with you I can say you are amazing at that game.

I can't believe how big Charlie is!

My parents and sister went to my brother's for Thanksgiving so we just went to my in-laws and it was kind of nice to not have to "split" the day. Plus we face-timed with Maddie who thought that was hilarious! She kept leaning close to the phone going "whatcha doin' Aunt Becky, whatcha doin'?"

Looks/sounds like such a great weekend! You have the most adorable family. That Scrabble board is IMPRESSIVE!!!! I am not nearly that good at the game at all. Glad you were able to get some R&R in! :)

I love that picture of you with your nephews! I think my favorite part of the holiday was the chance to slow down a little bit and get to spend some time with new friends that are starting to become close friends.

I used to love when there weren't any kids or even any significant others. We'd all cram into one house and it was the best slumber party ever. Now, we're more spread out, because we have to rent a second house, but there are positive aspects to today's holidays, too.

It was a perfect weekend, except for the snow! Thanks for sharing the pictures - love the one of Charlie with the sad look on his face by the patio door! Is James still playing "words with friends" with you? He'll have to get an ipad!

Love all the nephew-love in this post! I seriously can't believe how BIG Charlie is. I feel like you were just showing pictures of the two of you together and he was a little baby. Crazy how time flies! Looks like a really sweet Thanksgiving weekend though. Family time is the best!

So glad you had such a great holiday. You're nephews are the cutest. Seriously James has the best smile, like how could anyone ever be in a bad mood seeing that smile. And Charlie, I can't even handle. Like he doesn't even look real because he is just so perfectly adorable.

Wow that's fantastic. Getting to spend time at the lakehouse has to be one of the best ways to spend the holiday! Great fun!

Ha--I thought this was supposed to be a slower month for you?! :) I LOVE scrabble and unfortunately have not had the opportunity to play for years. Although I did play banana grams this Thanksgiving and it's basically the same thing!

Charlie's PJ's are adorable! Um, and I have to confess that I still have never played words with friends. I'm one of those people who appreciates my smartphone, but doesn't really use many apps or try the ones everyone else does. Maybe someday...

I not really a big scrabble person, but pretty much all the memories I have planning it are with my grandma. So I love that playing scrabble with your grandma looks to be a tradition too.

I love that photo of you on the couch with the boys; they are getting so big! I never recapped my Thanksgiving, so even on the 5th, you are way ahead of me! Family time is so important, so although your time was short, it was good that they are close enough to visit with when you can!
