Currently: February Edition

Happy Friday, everyone!  This has been a whirlwind week for me as I took Monday off since the market was closed for Presidents' Day and then I flew to New York on Wednesday for client meetings and will come back this morning.  But the faster the weeks go by, the better for me.

Reading: The Wedding Bees by Sarah-Kate Lynch.  Marisa reviewed it earlier this month and was kind enough to send me her copy.  So far it's been a light, fun read.

Loving: the warm weather we've had lately as it was in the 60s in Charlotte this week!  It's not that I can't handle some of the colder weather we've had in Charlotte lately, but if I am going to live in the south, I'd like some mild temps.

Thinking:  of this time last year when I was preparing to move while studying for the CFA and wondering how I got through it.

Feeling: homesick but am thankful that I will be home in less than a week for 4 days.

Anticipating: a fun weekend ahead that includes dinner at a friends house tonight, a massage tomorrow afternoon, a gathering at a co-worker's house with fellow Minnesotans who have been relocated tomorrow night and our first virtual family book club on Sunday night!

Inspired by:  people in my life who have faced difficult things but still maintain a positive attitude.

Watching: the Olympics, but not as much as I have in years past as I just have not been around much since they started.

Sad: that I haven't met my new niece and don't know when I will.  Hopefully it will work for me to come home at Easter but it all depends on the timing of when I will be moving.

Working: on a presentation that I will deliver at a client event in Minnesota next week.

Grateful: that I am able to run again.  My nearly 10 month absence was very hard on me as running is a stress outlet for me, so I am so happy to be back at it!  My mileage is super low, but I don't care because running 3 miles at a time is > running 0 miles.

Listening: to The Civil Wars albums on repeat.  I have yet to get sick of their music!

Wishing: that I had a crystal ball.  The amount of uncertainty in my life is something I am really struggling with as I feel like I can't plan anything after March as I have no idea what will happen after my year mark on April 8th. It just all depends on how soon I find a job and I don't have any sense of clarity about that yet and don't know when I will.

I know that crystal ball feeling, as well. And I really wish I had one for you - I know yu have a lot of "what Ifs" you are facing!

I am so glad you are able to run again to use that stress outlet. You need it so much.

Wow! To had a super busy week - and an awesome weekend ahead!

Ryan is coming home tonight so I'm excited! Should be a good weekend. It's been one hell of a week - so I'm happy it's Friday!

Yes, a crystal ball would be useful :)

So happy you are running again! Did you just slowly build up? We may need to discuss since I'm hoping to get cleared to run again next week, yikes! The funny thing is, I last ran in late August so it hasn't been THAT long. I've taken longer breaks before. I think I'm just nervous of all the new logistics I have.

Your weekend ahead sounds great. How did you find relocated Minnesota people? and why are there several of them haha.

I am so glad that you are running again! There is nothing better when you are feeling anxious/stressed than a nice cleansing run outdoors! I got through a lot of hard times by going out for a run!

I know it's hard to not know what is in the future, but you will get through it! Sometimes you just need to let nature take it's course. I know, I know, it's hard, but sometimes things just need a little time to work themselves out.

I hate uncertainty so I'm right there with you, but I just have to believe that everything will work out just fine for you :)

That uncertain feeling has to be so hard to deal with, especially since you're in a such a crappy situation now.

Your weekend sounds fun! Lots of social plans, yay! :) Happy Friday!

It sounds like you have a pretty great weekend ahead! Also, I'm happy for you that you are able to run again - that is great!!

I love the "currently" posts, and will likely do the same on my blog.

So glad you have a fun weekend planned and extra glad you'll be home soon enough. I know that uncertainty really nags at a person, but hang in there -- you've done so well so far!

That is awesome that you are back to running a bit! So good to hear!

I have a hard time trying to appreciate where I'm at and not get frustrated that I'm so far from where I want to be (graduated, in a career that I love, moved on from my current job, etc.). But I am getting better. What's hardest is trying to live in both worlds (the student world and the worker bee world) and try to manage them both really well. It's truly very hard to do.

I hate the amount of uncertainty ahead of you and me in 2014. Crystal balls would make for less anxiety for sure!

Massage! Family virtual book club! More running! Yay yay yay!

Also, I still have the Civil Wars CD in my car - I have yet to get sick of them either!

Hooray for running, and I love the Civil Wars. I won't go into all the details, but I finally am starting to feel like I can make short term plans again after a period of a lot of uncertainty. It can definitely feel frustrating when everything is up in the air.

For as much as you hate Charlotte, Friday's snapshot in time makes it feel like you've got a lot going on. You seem to be doing a pretty good job of cobbling together fitness (yay!), travel, virtual activities with far away friends and getting together with locals when you're in town. Impressive!

(PS, I'm starting to think that a fall half marathon is in my future - would be so great to follow each other's journeys!)
