I got my 5th and final fix of the year last week. I had asked my stylist to send me a dress for the wedding in Jamaica so I was hopeful that I'd love what she sent. Here is what I received... my apologies for the photo quality - the lightening in my bedroom is awful now that the sun is setting earlier!
Piece #1 - Patterned Dress
I pretty much knew I was not going to like this when I pulled it out of the box because I saw that it had cinching around the waist and that style of dress never looks good on me because I actually do not have a waist - I am pretty much straight as an arrow from my torso to my hips. But I tried it on anyways...
The look on my face says it all - it did not work for me. I liked the neckline but that was about it. So my decision was to send it back.
Piece #2 - Silky blouse
I saw that the stylist had also sent a top for me to wear in Jamaica, which sort of annoyed me because I only asked for a dress, but so be it.
I liked this piece but I have so many silky blouses and with the temperatures rapidly declining here in Minnesota, now is not the time to add blouses made from a thin material. If they sent this to me in March, my decision would have been different, but given the time of year and low chance of me wearing this anytime soon, my verdict was send it back.
Piece #3 - Dress for the wedding
I was pleased when I saw the color of this dress as I love that bright magenta color, but I was disappointed when I saw that this also had a cinched waist.
I tried it on and as I suspected, I was not a fan. It was very baggy up top so combined with the cinched waist it was really unflattering and felt frumpy. So my verdict was to send it back. It's not a big deal as I can wear the dress I wore to Amber's wedding this summer.
Piece #4 - Sweater
I am in need of some new sweaters as I am tired of what I have in my closet so I was happy when I saw this navy'ish sweater...
Except it was what I would call a 'business in the front, party in the back' kind of sweater.
I am sure there are women out there that can pull this partially backless look off.... But conservative "I dress like a librarian most days" Lisa is not one of those women. So my verdict was to send it back.
Piece #5 - Another sweater
Let's close out this post with some good news! My stylist sent me a second sweater which I really liked!
The sweater is oh so cozy and warm and it's good for me to diversify away from stripes and embrace a new pattern. So my verdict was to keep it.
So all in all, not my best fix as I only kept one item, but I have realistic expectations with these fixes as I know I am a particularly picky person. I really like the one piece I kept and know I will get a lot of use out of it on the weekends.
This is my last fix for 2014 as I am going to take a break from clothes shopping until the new year but it's been really fun to get fixes for the last 5 months!

It's so interesting how clothes can fit people so differently. That pink dress has me written all over it. But so many things you wear, I know look terrible on me (pencil skirts, colored pants)- and it's so funny because I wouldn't say our bodies are like crazy different from each other!
What color is that sweater you kept? It looks like 2 different colors (white and blue) in the picture but I feel like that is not what it really is because all of the pictures had that kind of line on them that is probably the lighting you were talking about. Either way, blue or white I love the sweater! And I don't love the darkness at night ha ha
When do you leave for Jamaica?
LOVE that polka dot sweater, but I'm with you on the rest - no thanks!
I love the sweater you kept! It is really flattering on you. I like the blouse but I would have sent it back as well given the time of year. The color looks really good on you. I don't like cinch dresses at all - I am super hippy and I don't think they flatter my curves at all. You must have to have a very specific "in between" shape to look good in them.
I immediately thought "Kelly" when I saw that pink dress haha! I love the sweater!
I love that sweater you kept! I also don't like drawstring waists. I'm a very picky shopper so I've never been interested in stitch fix, but i love seeing what people decide to keep!
I love the sweater you kept, and also the silky blouse, but can understand why you sent it back. I would have kept it because I loved the color so much!
I didn't like the first dress at all! The pink one was okay but know what you mean about cinched waists!
Glad you found one item to keep!
LOVE the polka dots on you!! Agree on the rest, love the party in the back sweater but not very good for work!
I LOVE the first two pieces which I know you didn't but I'd totes steal it from your closet if you had kept it. Also the polkadots! SO CUTE.
Dressing like a librarian is the best way to dress!
Shucks that none of the dresses would work for the wedding :( Love the polka dot sweater though :)
Smart woman, you, sending most of those back. You can do much better! I do love the sweater you kept, though. Nice.
I really like the bright coral color on you. It looks great, although I understand wanting warmer things this time of year. The sweater you picked is really cute as well.
I really love that silk blouse on you - the colour is so great on you! I know it's not the right time of year for it but next spring you should try to find more things in that colour.
Still love the sweater you kept so much. It just looks so cozy!!
The statement that you dress like a librarian most days made me laugh. Yes you are conservative but you are what I like to call conservative classy! I didn't like either of the dresses on you, I'm glad you sent them both back. I don't like sweaters or shirts that have holes in the back of them because then there is the whole what do I wear under it conundrum. I did love your sweater that you kept, that is super cute!!! The top that they sent you will be able to find something similar in the spring if you decide that you want something like it. I am SUPER excited for your Jamaica trip but I am also SUPER excited for the Julia Child recap, which I've told you a few hundred times now so I know you know :)
Love the polka dots! Perfect thing to keep.
The coral blouse is awesome, but agreed, not great for winter. And the sweater (navy) is fun but not practical for work, or play, really, since it's so cold this time of year! No one needs an open back :)
I can't get over how much I love that blouse on you! That is YOUR COLOR, friend! It looks great on you. That said, I understand why you sent it back. Doesn't make sense to keep something like that with a Minnesota winter ahead of you.
Bummer the two dresses didn't work out. I'm so super picky about my dresses and cinch waists are NO BUENO for me.
Glad you were able to keep at least one item! I really love that sweater. Polka dots are my favorite!
I love you in that orange top! Such a good color on you!!! Maybe next time they send something that color you will have to keep it.
I also adore that black and white sweater!!
I love the polka dots :) Good choice!
It's too bad that blue sweater has a party in the back, because I really like the front view! Also the polka dot is super cute.
I have a long torso and so have to find super long shirts or else even when I tuck sometimes they come undone. For dresses, it's best to have ones that are a wrap style or maybe a classic pencil. That cinched waist is not my style either!
I looooooove that silky blouse!! I want it!! Haha!
It's too bad that one sweater has a back like that, because it's cute. I would have sent it back too.
I do think this box was one of the weakest you've received. But I do think the polka-dotted sweater is pretty cute. Not quite stripes, but it's still at least a similar look!
I like that navy sweater in the front, but yeah not in the back! Cute polka dots!
