Woo hoo, it's Friday! While I enjoy my job, I'm always ready to greet Friday with open arms!! Here's how my week shaped up!
The high of my week was getting together with a friend for happy hour last night. We went to a cute spot in my old neighborhood. The weather was nice so we sat outside on the patio. I pretty much had no social plans for the 2 weeks when I was non-weight bearing on crutches so it feels REALLY good to be back to being more social!
The low of my week was nothing really. I feel like a different person now that I can walk without crutches so I don't have much to complain about!
A book I am reading is The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. This is the second book I have read by this author. It took awhile for me to get into it but now I'm really liking it. It's a long one, though, as it's almost 600 pages!
A recipe I made this week is Mini Muffuletta Meatloaves. I left out the cheese since I'm limiting my dairy intake these days and substituted turkey for ground beef to reduce the calories a bit but it was still great with these modifications. In hindsight I should have made some potatoes or rice to go along with it but I tend to focus on the protein and vegetable and forget about the carbs!
For my workouts I did my PT exercises every day and biked on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and I plan to get some time in on the bike on Saturday and Sunday. My list of PT exercises grows each week and I got to add some more challenging things this week like leg presses and side planks (from my elbows/knees as I'm still building strength). I also got to add resistance while biking this week so I feel like I am getting a bit more of a workout. I can't wait until I am cleared to bike outdoors in week 7! I really miss being active outside.
The best money I spent was on wire cages for my tomato plants and materials to build a fence around my garden to keep the pesky rabbits out!
My plans this weekend include going out for dinner with another couple tonight and followed by playing our favorite card game (hand and foot) with them afterwards. On Saturday we are going to a friend's "I do BBQ" to celebrate their recent engagement. On Sunday I'll go to church in the morning and then meet up with a friend and go to a farmer's market. On Sunday afternoon I want to do a deep clean of our house + grocery shop + do laundry! It feels so good to be able to help out with the "adulting" tasks again. This is an ideal kind of weekend for me as it will have a good balance of social plans and time spent being productive!

I know you're so glad to be off crutches!!! That's awesome!!! It does sound like the perfect blend of social plans and productivity for the weekend! I'm excited for your garden, that's going to be such a treat! This week has been pretty amazing!!! I love staying down at the lake the low has been yesterday's commute. I had to leave work late and it took almost 2 hours to get home. I went for a 4 mile run when I finally got home and the view was so gorgeous!!! Tonight I plan to clean and tomorrow I'll go for a run and spend some time on the dock before I head home.
I am jealous of your meals! I wish I could get myself to eat more protein these days but I am living off carbs and occasionally some fruits and veggies. It is so frustrating! I am so happy for you being able to get around more easily and have more of a social life! It must feel so freeing. Hopefully you continue to gain strength and endurance as you continue to recover. I have never heard of hand and foot - I'll have to look it up! Enjoy your weekend :)
It sounds like you are really progressing with your PT! Soon you will be out biking and doing long walks in the neighborhood!

I would have popped a potato in the microwave if I was fixing that for us, but only for your Dad! He loves potatoes and pasta!

The high of my week was probably visiting this super cute restaurant in Tampa with my roommate last night. It was so eclectic, and the food was AMAZING and so fresh! We both can't wait to go back!
The high of my week was treating myself to a Vitamin C facial at my favorite Spa yesterday. Such a delight! My skin looks and feels fabulous :)

My high was buying Spain tickets! Though it meant dipping in my savings. But I'm happy to splurge for this!
I can't compute not focusing on carbs. ;P Sounds like a good weekend. We are going on a family adventure tomorrow that will include doughnuts and beer. Sunday we have a spray park date with cousins from AZ so that should be fun. My high of the week was fitting in a walk every night. 2 miles each day except Thursday when I had a nephews birthday party so I had to do a mile and then walked some laps around my house.
Yay I'm so glad you are getting back to normal again! I'm sure it is doing SO much for your spirits!! That' is cool you get to bike on the outdoor book week 7! That will be a big excitement!!
Do you have a garden now at the new home? I want to see a picture! I'm a little envious! Hopefully we can get a garden going this fall (planting a garden in Tucson summer doesn't work). We have started going to these "slow food happy hours" -- which is really a get together with a bunch of retired people and some hipsters mixed in. But we have learned SO much about gardening in the desert! I'm so excited to try what we have learned!

I'm so glad to hear that your recovery is progressing and that you're getting to add some things that are challenging you a bit and making you feel like you are getting your sweat on a bit. I hope you enjoyed the BBQ!
My highlight of this week was probably doing a 12K race instead of my regular long run. It was an automatic PR because I'd never run a race of that distance before and the course was really fun.
That's good that you're doing well enough to be able to help out with the chores :-) You'll be good as new in no time! I love the idea of little mini meatloaves.
I haven't done a TGIF post in so long, I need to start doing them more as we get settled into our new home and life! So glad you are off your crutches and able to mostly get back to your normal life!!
