This study season is going better than last year's did, but it's still challenging. So to dodge the weekend blues, I'm trying to focus on the small things I can do each weekend to make them a little bit more fun and restorative. I want to find whimsy in the small things.
This weekend will be brightened by the following...
- Tonight, I am meeting up with Marisa! She recently moved here from Des Moines and I can't wait to show her my favorite spots! I might start by introducing her to cucumber margaritas - that's my drink of choice as it's so delicious and refreshing! I earned a drink because this is my first night off from studying in 8 DAYS!!! And Marisa got a job! So we have lots to celebrate!
- Tomorrow night I get to catch up with this lovely lady. I am so thankful for google video chatting!
Amber & I in Seattle in fall of 2010 |
- Lastly, tomorrow I should finish the first half of the CFA materials. I am ahead of schedule, which is good because that means I can use the following week to go back and review some of the areas I am struggling with.
What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Hope the studying goes well - those fish tacos look like a good reward. I absolutely love fish tacos!
I absolutely used to do this in pharmacy school. I actually worked two jobs for a total of over full time hours WHILE in grad school, so you can imagine that nights off were very rare. I would promise myself some sort of small treat each weekend to make up for the fact that I'd worked overnight, gone straight to my day job, got off at 5, got an hour nap, then had to hit the books until 10 pm. Sometimes I'd try a special tea or a new recipe. It helps to have something to brighten the day or the weekends are just drudgery!
That is a good weekend of fun things to break up the studying.
I kind of love that you are in Seattle with massive cups of coffee in that photo.
This weekend, Dave will be home from tour on Saturday night, and we have guests, so I will be cleaning. He has a gig here, so I'll go along, and then we have the hire car till Monday, so Sunday will include a road trip!
I think it's amazing how dedicated you are to studying! That's great that you're ahead--much better than being behind! And in the grand scheme of things, you know it's going to totally be worth it. That said, you deserve to treat yourself this weekend!
Yum! Those fish tacos look great!
I have thought about your CFA regimen. Hope you are finding different places to study to break up the sessions a bit!
Enjoy your time with your friends!
Sounds like a good break from studying! And last weekend you got to spend some time with that precious little boy, Owen! That, too, was a good diversion! I love fish tacos, too! Have a fun weekend!
Have so much fun tonight! Celebrating is much needed indeed.
I'm looking forward to going to the library this weekend with the kidlets and taking Jolie to the bookstore to pick out a book as she was the first kid in her class to accomplish 360 minutes of reading (and earned a Six Flags ticket, too). And I'm making BBQ chicken in the crockpot again on Sunday and will try to take photos and etc. so I can actually post the recipe next week!
Happy weekend, friend. I know I'll bug you lots <3
You need a little break, my dear! Eek! :(
And I totally hear you on how depressing it can be to have to work/study on the weekend when the rest of the world is having fun.
Those fish tacos look great! That's my favorite mexican food. I have a little suggestion for you to try (next time you make them..since it looks like you have a recipe set up) --
Take some purple cabbage, chop it up, and stir it with 1-2 tbsp of miracle whip, 1-2 tsp of lime. And use it as a garnish. It may sound funny..but that replicates the island-fresh tacos to the tee! Mmm
Oooh those fish taco's look delicious!! I might have to try that recipe.
Can't wait for our video chat! I'm glad we're able to get back on our every second week schedule now so we don't chat one anothers ears off *too* much :)
You are so much better at studying than I am! You deserve a break! I am glad you are going to reward yourself a little bit. I remember being in school and not having time to think much about anything except work/study/school/sleep/repeat. But you need a break once in a while!
Those fish tacos look delicious! Let us know how they turn out! I made a private goal of making at least one new dish a month!
Fish tacos sound SO yummy- I've never had them, but that picture totally has me craving some. I may have to try out a recipe one of these days. Have a great weekend, sounds like you've got lots of fun things planned despite all the studying :)
mmm...fish tacos. I love! And so easy. It was one of the first meals I made for the manfriend at my old place (I was sharing a house with two boys). Yuck. Keep up the good work on studying!
cucumber margaritas and fish tacos?!?! We need a date soon!! :)
This weekend I have date #3 with that guy (wow, right?!) and tonight I am going to see The Vow with my mom!
I am also working with a new consumer at Link that I guess likes to go the YMCA a lot with his staff. I'm really looking forward to this because it practically forces me to work out!
Enjoy your weekend!
I saw that recipe for the tacos - I have it book marked to hopefully make next week! I am looking forward to long run tomorrow morning and then dinner with friends tomorrow night!
Well this weekend sounds pretty good to me, though I could do without the studying! I should probably do this for weekdays, so I wouldn't feel depressed on Sunday afternoons haha.
Those tacos look yummy! I can't wait to eat some good Mexican food in AZ!
yum, that looks good! this weekend i am looking forward to hopefully being lazy. but this house really needs to be dusted/vaccuumed and i have to freaking try on a bathing suit..
I felt the same way about weekends last semester. They were not a break at all but instead I almost dreaded them because of all the work I had to do.
This weekend I have absolutely NOTHING to do, and then I am on holidays all of next week. It feels amazing. Just keep pushing through girl, it will feel SO great when you are done!
Hope the weekend is treating you well! This weekend I'm making myself NOT plan things so Ben and I can make sure we're completely better. Sometimes not planning things is harder than filling my weekend!
Sounds like a good weekend! I love introducing the city to someone new! That sounds like the best!
We're having a quiet weekend, maybe a movie tonight -- and that's fine with me after the past week!
Would love to hear how your recipe for fish tacos turned out. I hope studying goes well, friend. Looking forward to catching up tonight!
It's important to give yourself breaks from studying. And going to work doesn't count! Glad to see you planned some fun things this weekend - hope it was great!
