My 2nd Fix

Last week I received my second "Fix" from Stitch Fix.  I had provided really detailed feedback on my last fix so was excited to see how this one would turn out.  Here is what I got!

Items #1 and #2 - Top  and Cropped Pants

The first thing I saw when I opened the box from Stitch Fix was some red pants.  I  was excited as I love bright cropped pants.  I tried them on with a patterned top that they had sent me.

You can't tell in this photo, but unfortunately the pants did not fit me.  They were already a little bit loose in the waist and butt areas and I could tell they would likely stretch a bit so as much as I really loved them, I had to send them back.  But - I love the top and it fit great so I am keeping it!  I can see myself pairing it with cropped pants, jeans, or a pencil skirt so it's going to be a versatile piece for my wardrobe.

Item #3 - Tank Top

I saw that they once again sent me something with stripes which I was excited about...

But I wasn't crazy about the side panels which makes it flare out a bit.  I prefer more tailored looks so this was a bit of a miss for me.  Plus it's pretty casual and not really something I could see myself wearing to work so I opted to send it back.  I have a hard time spending money on clothes that I can't wear to work.

Item #4 - Cardigan

I heart cardigans and can never seem to have too many of them as I love layered looks (and am perpetually cold) so I was happy to see a cardigan in my fix.

This cardigan was super comfy, but I ended up sending it back because the price point was too high for the style/fabric in my opinion.  I feel like most of what I have received from Stitch Fix is reasonably priced, but this cardigan was $78 which is just way too much for me to spend on a casual, cotton cardigan.

Item #5 - Dress

When I pulled this dress out of the box my immediate reaction was a solid two thumbs down due to the pattern...

After trying it on, I actually liked it more than I thought I would.  But I did not love it.  I think if I was in a situation where I liked everything else, I would have kept this dress to get the 25% off of my total order.  But, I was sending other things back so the verdict was to all send this back.  Plus I felt the price point ($148)  was too high for a thin, jersey-type fabric dress.  I spend a fraction of that on the dresses that I get at Banana Republic which are made from a sturdier fabric.

So all in all, I once again only kept 1 item - but I really like the one item I kept.  I would have kept the red pants if they had fit better and there wasn't anything I strongly disliked in this fix so I feel like my stylist is getting better.

My plan is to do at least 2 more fixes to see if I start to keep more things.  But even if I just keep one item/fix, it's actually worth it for me as it will allow me to slowly build my wardrobe over time.

The thoughts in this review are my own and I was not compensated for Stitch Fix to post this review.  However, I will receive a $25 credit if you sign up for Stitch Fix using the referral link included in this post.

I totally understand about the price points - but I like that they sent you a variety of things, and I do like that dress!

Love seeing these posts!

I love that dress....

I love that dress, too! It really looks great on you! But understand about the price etc.
The red pants were cute, too, so it is too bad they didn't fit!
It will be interesting to see what comes next time!

I love the top you kept so much. It's a shame those red pants didn't fit because it looked super cute paired with them. It does look like your stylist is getting better so I'm excited to see your next fix.

Wow, $78 for a cardigan seems really, really outrageous to me! I think out of all the items the cardigan is my favorite, it's too bad it was so expensive. I also love the red pants, what a bummer that they didn't fit right! This fix seems to have improvements over the first one, so I think you're smart to go through a few more to see if they continue to get better.

These posts are fun. Reminds me of when I have girl roommates and we do fashion shows of our loot.

Love the cardigan so bummer about the price!

Love the top you kept and how adorable with the red pants, but boo that they were too big (also yay, I guess, right?!)

I like the top that you kept! Hot dang, that's a lot of money for a wrap dress. Have you seen that article floating around about Stitch Fix and how they mark up their pieces in price?

Aw, too bad about the pants. They were really cute and very YOU! That shirt is adorable, though. Hopefully, your next box will be more successful!

These are all so cute!!! But I understand your reason for sending back. You look amazing!

I think you should get some red cropped pants. It pairs so well with that top! Super fun!!

Love the top you kept. I also really like the dress but yep, that seems pricey. And I really like the other striped top as well but if you're not likely to wear it, it's not worth keeping.

I really like that dress but it is a bit steep for a non-quality fabric.

I have a friend who is using Le Tote and she loves it! I am not sure if it is the same or similar but she can rent the clothes (like Netflix for clothing) for as long as she wants and THEN keep what she likes.

I'd say it was another success! Even keeping one item per box is a success in my eyes. I still really like that dress on you and I don't think you can tell it's a lighter material in the photo but I get that the price tag was crazy for a lighter material like that!

Can't wait to see what you get in fix 3! Hopefully your feedback about the pants will mean that everything fits you good!

I like everything but that tank! Dude I would never spend 78 on a cardigan. I generally don't like spending more than 20 on one! But that may be because I am perpetually shrinking them! whoops. Too bad that dress is so much! I should be getting my first box in a couple weeks!

All cute pieces but yikes I agree steep prices when you know you can get the same for less. I like the top you kept.

That cardigan is really cute, but I would have had a hard time paying that much for it too.

Overall I do like the tank top, but agree with you that the side panels are kind of weird. And I'm kind of odd about cardigans. I normally love buying them, but then tend to wear the same black or grey one all winter long, which is silly knowing I have other colors. Although I've yet to buy a pregnancy cardigan, so I'm hoping that I can make my old one works through the fall. Finally, I do really link the top you kept and feel like it's really you!

I agree with each of your points!

I love the dress, but it is definitely too expensive!

Interesting. I like the idea of wearing and trying on at home and I sure like those pants -- but if it doesn't fit, you must (a)quit!

I love the shirt you kept, totally disagree about the striped shirt (I think it's adorable, looks great on you and isn't your typical striped shirt), think that dress looks amazing on you (the details at the waist are so unique!)(so, I'm sad it went back) and agree that the cardigan and pants should've gone back. Keep posting, please!!!

(BTW, I had Sweets take some photos of me last night in Stitch Fix clothes, because I was sending some of them back today ... that makes for TWO fixes that haven't yet made it onto my blog ... I'm so behind!!!)

Also, I just saw Leigh's comment about Stitch Fix "marking up" prices. For every fix I get, I do a Google search to see if those items are available elsewhere (mostly, because if I like something, I want to be able to buy other things from that brand). Some brands are Stitch Fix's in-house brand (e.g., 41 Hawthorn), so there isn't ever a comparison. Other brands are only sold wholesale, so you have to find a boutique that carries them. And, for the brands you can find at a department store or online, I have found Stitch Fix charges the retail price. There's no discount, for sure, but I don't see Stitch Fix's prices being any higher than anyone else that carries the brands.
