10 Questions

Amber and Nilsa posted their answers to these questions recently so I decided to play along!

1. Twitter or Facebook?

Definitely Facebook, although I don't post on it all that often.  I actually deactivated my Twitter account recently as I haven't used it in months!

2. Morning person or night owl?

I would say morning person, but I am not really a 'talk to me first thing in the morning' kind of morning person as it takes me a bit to warm up (coffee helps).  Phil and I were talking about hosting a brunch for our friends this spring and I said - "and it will be great because I'll be in my prime and won't be yawning!" I am the worst at staying up late.  And by late I mean past 10 pm.

3. How do you drink your coffee?

6 days a week I make coffee at home and add fat free French vanilla creamer.  On Fridays I treat myself to a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks or if I'm feeling indulgent, I'll get a mint condition mocha from Caribou.

4. It’s 9pm and you’ve got the house to yourself, what do you do?

I would definitely be sitting in silence reading.

5. What’s on your nightstand right now?

A book, a box of kleenexes, my glasses/glasses case, ear plugs, sleep mask (I'm a high maintenance sleeper) and Burts Beeswax chapstick.

6. What smell do you love?

The smell of my parents home on Thanksgiving morning.  I love the smell of the turkey roasting in the oven and the mirepoix that will go in the stuffing sauteing on the stove.  Mmmm.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

7. What smell do you hate?

The smell of reheated seafood at the kitchen at work. Why do people reheat seafood at work?  It's SO RUDE.  I also hate the smell of peanut butter when someone else is eating it.  I don't mind the smell when I'm eating it but I strongly dislike the second hand smell of peanut butter. And, last but not least, I REALLY HATE the smell of cigarette smoke.  Why do people, especially young people, still smoke in this day and age, knowing all we know about how awful it is for you?

8. Other than your current home, where would you most like to live?

From a practical standpoint, somewhere in south Minneapolis that is within a mile of a lake or Minnehaha Creek.  From an impractical standpoint, Paris.  :)  Other cities in the U.S. that I could see myself living in are New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.

9. If you could eat only one nationality of food for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Mexican!  It's very GF friendly and there are so many Mexican foods I love!  The runner up would be Indian food.

10. When you were six years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Hmmm...  I'm not really sure but if I had to guess I would say a doctor or a lawyer.

Your turn - what smells do you love, are you a morning person or night owl, and what nationality of food would you choose if you could only pick one?

Ok we're pretty much the same person on a LOT of these answers! I'm a morning person for sure, I would also be sitting in silence reading, I HATE the smell of reheated seafood and cigarette smoke and could not agree more on the Mexican food vote ;)

I abhor the smell of cigarette smoke - it is so disgusting! It pains me to see so many people still smoking.
I, too, would be reading if I had the house to myself.
I love the smell of aturkey roasting, meat grilling, coffee brewing, bread baking and popcorn!

I'm becoming more and more of a morning person. Although if I"m expected to interact with people, I need coffee in me.

Ugh, seafood at work is the most disgusting thing ever. I can't even handle it if someone goes to the fast food seafood place. grosses me out. And agreed on the cigarette smoke. Everyone has to know that it isn't good for them, it's no myth!

I'm more of a prime time person than a morning; I can't say night owl because I go to bed by 10pm, sometimes earlier, most nights.

I don't consider myself a morning person OR a night owl! I'm more of an afternoon person? Haha.

Haaaaate cigarette smoke. Some of my cousins who are younger than me smoke. And we grew up with how bad smoking is being hammered into us. I don't understand how people can still smoke!

I think I could eat middle eastern food every day. Love it.

I consider myself a morning person but I totally agree I don't like to really talk during those early hours. I love working out, eating breakfast in silence, and get all caught up and ready for the day!

Mmm, mint condition mocha sounds delightful! I love the smell of anything citrus-y - oranges, lemons, even if it's just a cleaning product or candle.

I'm definitely a morning person which should be interesting because in utero this baby is totally his father's son and a night owl - we'll see what happens when he comes out!

Hmm, nationality of food - I'd have to say Italian because I can always eat pasta!

I have a lot of the same answers as you! I am a morning person who goes to bed around 9 (if I force myself to stay up), I make coffee at home, I would be reading at 9 pm (or sleeping!) and I hate the smell of cigarette smoke.

I also love the smell of grass and gas (weird, I know) and dislike the smell of perfume and wet dog.

That's so interesting you don't like the second hand smell of peanut butter. I didn't know that! I LOVE the smell of peanut butter and love PB in general so everytime I smell it I think hmmm. I eat it in my oatmeal every morning!

I would deactivate twitter if I didn't still use it fairly often for work. I also feel a bit nostalgic for it as I really loved twitter for a long time but now it has too much noise for me and I've gravitated back to facebook.

I agree with you on many of these, especially the terrible smell of cigarette smoke and reading with the house to myself :)
If I could live anywhere but my current home I think it would be Hawaii- I'm so over winter and would be fine with never having it again... and yes I know Hawaii just got snow but I will live on the coast where it doesn't snow in my dream world.

Love all of these! I'm FB, night person, love smelling citrus and fresh herbs and will probably pick Italian!

Such a night person. I hate mornings. I also love Mexican food and could eat it all day.

This is such a fun post! I am SO with you on hating the smell of peanut butter when other people eat it! It seriously makes me gag!!

Nothing beats that Thanksgiving morning smell. Except when you wake up to it and you have the stomach flu, like I did this year on Xmas morning :( Torture.

I am going to do this on my blog!

I just deleted twitter from my phone. I can't keep up with it and I like pictures so much that IG is definitely my favorite. You know I love Mexican!!! I also love Japanese and you've seen me put away some pizza!!!!

I love the smell of onions frying in butter, bread or buns baking, and lilacs. I used to be such a night owl, but I think I'm becoming more of a morning person. I would pick Korean food for sure.

The smell of reheated seafood is rancid. SICK.

Isn't "kleneex" plural? I didn't realize you need to say "klennexes" to make it plural? heh. BTW, when Dan worked nights, he needed a sleep mask to sleep during the day. He introduced me to them and there are times when I can't fall asleep without them. They're kind of brilliant (as are blackout shades - if you haven't invested in them, do it!).

I feel the same way about reheated seafood. Actually though that wound up being the first symptom I had when pregnant. Someone at work was heating up a tuna noodle casserole, and I couldn't handle the smell. Granted it's not like it's a pleasant smell normally, but the people I was with couldn't figure out why I freaked out so much over it. But about a week later, it all made sense.

And for one of my answers, when I was 6 I wanted to be either an astronaut or an ice cream man... talk about two opposite ends of the spectrum!
