Catching Up

Happy Wednesday!  My friend Leigh occasionally does "catching up" posts so I thought I'd copy her and do a catching up post of my own!

- My staycation last week week was wonderful but it probably should have been called a "producation" because I was very productive. I was pretty much on my feet all day Wednesday/Thursday tackling a to do list, grocery shopping, and doing meal prep, but it was nice to get all my chores out of the way before Nora's arrival!

- Speaking of Nora's visit, we had the best time! You can go read all about it here! It was really fun to spend a whole weekend together doing things that our significant others wouldn't be interested in (e.g. art museum, flower show, musical). It was also great that she had a chance to get to know Phil (and that she gave him 2 thumbs up!).

- This week is another busy week for me as I have things going on 3 out of 5 nights this week. I have my last ESL training session tomorrow. The training has been very interesting and useful, but I'll be happy to be done as the training is from 6-9 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays so it made for some long days. I'm definitely due for a shouldless day soon!

- The issue with my hip isn't  getting better as fast as my PT thought it would/should so she referred me to a orthopedic doctor that specializes in hips. The X-rays show that I have an abnormal bone growth on the ball of my hip joint so I have to get an MRI tomorrow so he can figure out what is going on and what the course of treatment will be. Best case scenario I will need to do more PT; worse case scenario I may need surgery to repair a labral tear/re-shape the ball joint of my hip. I'm hoping PT will suffice. In the mean time I'm continuing to see my PT. I have so many doctor/therapy appointments these days, it's ridiculous.

- I ended up starting Whole30 earlier than planned to avoid having it coincide with our trip to San Francisco. Today is day 3 but so far it's been going well (although I know it will be challenging to stick to for 30 days). I'll be sharing more about it next week. I'm bummed that I'll be on Whole30 for Easter but I guess I'll just have to save my Easter candy until after Whole30 concludes!

- Speaking of the trip to San Francisco, we are booking our plane tickets this week! It will be an inexpensive trip for us as I have a free companion ticket on Delta that I need to use. It's going to be a shorter trip than we'd like as there was only one weekend in April that worked for Phil and I, and he can't leave until Thursday afternoon, and I have to fly to NJ on Monday for work but we'll make the most of the 3 full days we'll have there! Kyria is going to host us - I'm excited to see her new house and introduce her to Phil.

What's new in your world these days? For those who celebrate Easter, what are your plans? We'll be staying here and will celebrate the holiday with Phil's mom. I can't believe it's next week!!

I can't wait to see you guys and to host you! We are going to have a lot of fun!

I'm sure it was nice to have a staycation and since I know you are like me, often staycations DO end up being productations...or whatever. I cannot just sit around the house on a day off when I know there are things that need to get done. Speaking of that, I am still working on my purge project. It's not over yet, as I really want to tackle the garage, especially since the last time it rained there was some water seeping in (boo!). However, all my stuff is in plastic tubs, so it was fine, but I do want to cull it and maybe even build a shelf in there so that in case it happens again, all will be safe.

We will miss you on Easter, and I know you will miss coloring eggs with the kids, too! That reminds me that I best get some coloring kits lined up!

I am anxiously awaiting the results of your MRI and hope that PT is the course of treatment! Surgery is never fun.

Good luck on the Whole30 diet! You should have started it at the beginning of Lent so you could celebrate Easter, but know you will do just fine as you are a determined person.

Glad to hear that W30 is going well so far. I have no doubt you'll do well with it :)

Easter plans: church + brunch with my two guys. That's pretty much as far as we have made it, and that's ok with me. Our dance card is filling up quickly for April and May, so an afternoon of quiet here or there is fine with me.

Hope the MRI gives the doc the info he needs and that surgery is not what is necessary. of course, if it is, we'll all be here for you from afar! <3

Praying PT is all that is needed for your hip! I know neither of us wants surgery!!!

So excited for your SF trip, y'all will have an amazing time! Glad that you and Nora had such an awesome girls weekend! You're an awesome hostess!

March and April are crazy and I'm doing my best not to start scheduling into May and June. Although I've already scheduled a few things in May and one trip in June, law have mercy!

You might be in town while we're out of town! Bummer to miss your short trip to SF. ;-)

Hope that PT is all you'll need!

Nora's visit sounded great! Makes me wish we had more time when you were in Boston :)
I hope your hip ends up being something that could be fixed with PT but I totally get how going to PT after work plus other commitments can be exhausting. I've found that both times I've ended up in PT.

So glad Nora's visit was good and Phil got the thumbs up (but I really didn't think either would be a downer!). And I'm sending boatloads of good wishes for the PT and the hip. I'm getting very tired of stuff being wrong, aren't you? Hope SF will be an easy journey with that. Have a grand time!

Ack. I hope it's not a labral tear! I mean, mine weren't the end of the world, but they were also no fun at all. I hope it's just slight impingement and PT can help.

Sounds like you and Nora had a great time together :) Sorry to hear about your hip- my fingers and toes are crossed that you don't need surgery and PT will help fix it. You must be frustrated about it :(

Oh, man, I hope you only need some PT for your hip pain! Surgery would not be fun at all. Fingers crossed!

I actually have no idea what I'm doing for Easter, oddly enough. Sometimes my family gets together for a big dinner, but not always, and no plans have been discussed yet. I can't believe how fast it snuck up this year!

Thank you for passing along the article on the hip. It was super helpful!!

Oh man you guys are going to have SO much fun in San Francisco!! I am dying to take Eric there. One day!! I definitely hope that you do not end up needing surgery for your hip and that PT helps make it feel better.

I'm bummed it didn't work out for me to do Whole 30 with you but also happy that so far everything is working out great for you on the program. Easter will be hard but I know you will get through it no problem!

I have no idea what we'll be doing for Easter, although imagine we'll be sending the day at my in laws. Although I did find a Cadbury creamer egg cake I've been dying to make, especially since for the first time in a long time Passover and Easter doing overlap. Although the cake is most definitely not whole30 or gf friendly,

I hope your hip troubles are easily and swiftly sorted. I'm sorry you've not been having the best time with health recently. Another trip away with Phil sounds like good medicine though and I hope you have a fab time in San Francisco.

Hopefully the 4 days of Easter will be as productive for me as your staycation was for you!

Sorry to hear about your hip and all the appointments; what a hassle!

We'll be in New Orleans for Easter!! I haven't been home for Easter for at least the past 8 years ... if not more. We're going to go to a Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues on Easter Sunday, and a swamp tour later in the evening, followed by dinner out somewhere (possibly with bunny ears on, haha)!

That's funny that you mentioned the juicy lucy on my blog a while ago. I had a double cheeseburger myself that evening, but Christopher had a juicy lucy! He loves them.

That will be one quick trip. I'm sure you will all have fun though. We are going to Traverse City for the weekend and may or may not make it back for Easter at my husband's grandma's farm.

I'm so glad you two are getting away to San Francisco! I adore that city!!
