The Brandi Carlile concert on Wednesday night was AWESOME. She is so talented and her band is amazing. Her guitar players are twins - how random is that! Here's some pics which will show you just how awesome our seats were!
We were on the main floor, 10 rows back, center stage. Those are probably the best seats I've ever had at a concert. Her new album comes out on October 6th - she played some of her new music and it was all awesome so I can't wait to buy her next CD!
Now I am packing for my trip to Chicago. Remember my luggage debacle last time I traveled? I'm definitely NOT checking a bag this time, even though it is free on Southwest Airlines. I am so glad that Southwest opened up a flight between Minneapolis and Chicago. Hopefully now I will go down and visit my brother & his family on a more regular basis.
I am pretty proud of my packing for this trip. I think I used to be a good packer. I remember going to London for a week when I was a sophomore in college and I brought one tiny little carry on... Yah, now I struggle to get everything into a bigger carry-on and I'm only going to be gone for 4 days. I guess I have gotten more high maintenance or something. I won't be bringing a blow dryer or flat iron for this trip, so that really helps. So you'll get to see what my hair looks like when I wear it wavy/curly. Here's the 2 bags I'll be carrying on today - not bad, huh?
I hope you all have a great weekend! I can't wait to spend some quality time with my brother, his wife, and their little boy who will be 3 in January! Sounds like we are going to an apple orchard on Sunday and I am so pumped for that! I'll be back with a trip recap next week!
Do you think you are a good packer? Are you pretty practical when it comes to packing? Or are you like me - bringing 3 pairs of shoes for a 4 day trip?

have a safe and fun trip!
I guess I can be a good packer if I need to be. I once fit everything into a small carry on for a week long trip to Paris. I was deathly afraid of my luggage getting lost, so I didn't want to check anything.
Most times though it seems like I pack twice as many clothes as I'll need on a trip. How am I supposed to know ahead of time what I'll be in the mood to wear a few days from now? I have to have options! ;)
Have a great trip! I'm a pretty good packer but I can definitely get off course very easily! Can't wait to hear about your trip!
You did have great seat! Awesome! :)
I am so not a practical packer! I'm always thinking, "What if?" Then my suitcase gets overpacked...
Have tons of fun!
I ma a good packer, but I do pack for most eventualities. I think it's important to prepare for stuff. I check the weather and what we are doing, and pack suitable shoes and layers of clothes, but take lieghwieght stuff. Dave and I normally take a medium case for the two of us or a slightly bigger than normal backpack each.
Hey Lisa,
I'm a terrible packer! I ALWAYS overpack, but I take comfort in knowing that I should always have what i need! Have a great trip to Chicago, i know it will be a blast, Chad and Emily are such great, fun people and that little nephew of yours is absolutely adorable!!! Have fun!
Oh and WHERE DID YOU GET THAT YELLOW BAG!?!? I love it and am on the market for a new "big bag!"
Ashley
Love that purse!
I'm a pretty awful packer it seems. Always more than I need but I'd rather have what I don't need instead of being without what I DO need, you know?
Have a fabulous trip!
HAVE FUN!
I'm a TERRIBLE packer. I always take SOO much stuff with me when I go home and then usually bring even more back with me when I come back to Kamloops!!
dang, i'm impressed with the packing! Would love to know, btw, what brand your purse and flats are? So cute! Safe travels and enjoy the weekend!
Yeah, the packing looks awesome! Hope you have fun in Chicago :D I'm an ok packer I think. I do tend to bring some things I won't need but overall I think I'm way better than others :P
I'm an efficient packer, bringing stuff that mixes and matches easily, including the jewelry. Sometimes I think I come up with better stuff when I'm packing than I do for my regular work day!
Anyway, I think you should take as many shoes as you like, if you can fit them in the bag!
Enjoy!
I'm easily an over packer. I'll normally count how many days I'm there, multiple it by two and pack about that many outfits. Plus I'll throw in a few extras, just in case. And yet, I always seem to wind up forgetting something!
Have fun in Chicago! I love that city!!!
Oh by the way, you should REALLY go to a show at Second City. It was the highlight of my trip (besides seeing my friend of course).
ALso I have something for you on my blog!
