Dress Rehearsal

While I do love living alone, there is one thing I miss about having a roommate... or 41 like I did when I lived in Delta Gamma during my college years.

I miss having a roommate to help me with outfit selections!

Can you imagine living with 41 other women? It was actually surprisingly peaceful much of the time, and you always had someone to go to for an honest critique of an outfit - or someone to borrow an outfit from if need be.

So here is where I turn to you, my trusted readers, and ask you for your honest opinion! I am leanings towards one of the following dresses/ensembles but would love to get your opinion!

You can read more details about the wedding I will be attending here, or here is the cliff notes recap:
- It's the wedding of a co-worker
- The wedding is in Iowa
- The only other people I will know, besides the groom, are my two ex-boyfriends, one of which is bringing his new girlfriend

Here are my 4 options. Please disregard my hair & make-up - these pictures were taken after a long day of work!

Option #1: Flirty Black Dress

Pros: It's super comfy and has a flattering neckline. And it has pockets (why can't every dress have pockets?)
Cons: Due to the fullness of the skirt/the way it's cut, if it's windy on Saturday, I run the risk of flashing everyone while walking to & from the car.

Option #2: Classic Black Dress

Pros: It's a simple, classic look that I could dress up with the right accessories.
Cons: Hillary Rodham Clinton called and she wants the shell of her sisterhood-of-the-traveling-suit back.

Option #3: Navy J.Crew Dress

Pros: The picture isn't great for this one since I am slouching my shoulders, but it is flattering when you see it in person. And it also has pockets!
Cons: Similar to dress #2, it's also a bit on the work-wear side.

Outfit #4: White Pants & Graphic Print Top Combo

Pros: If the reception is on the cool side, I won't freeze like I might in the other dress options (I get cold really easily). Also, I like the cut of the top, although I look like I am rocking a bit of a farmer's tan... Yikes!
Cons:
May be a bit too casual - although keep in mind this wedding is in the Midwest where the dress code is a bit more relaxed at weddings compared to what you would see in larger cities.

Well, what do you think? I'll be back tomorrow to let you know what my final decision is!

You look so pretty in all of them!! I lived on my sorority floor for a year and a half and it was great for opinions!!
I personally like the first dress. The next 2 dresses, while I'm sure you would do a fabulous job of accesorizing look more "work" and call me old fashioned but I try to steer clear of anything white when I'm going to a wedding.
The first dress is fun, pretty, flattering, and I'm sure you have fantastic accessories!!! It does fabulous things for your legs as well!! I'm looking forward to reading the final decision!!!

Wow, you look great in all of then, Lisa! I am going to have to say it is a toss up between the flirty black dress and the navy J. Crew dress. However, with some stunning accessories - I'm going to lean towards the J. Crew dress. It is so flattering to your figure!

Yu are going to "knock-em-dead" on Saturday, I just know ;)

I vote flirty black dress. If it's windy just keep your hands on the flowy part.

All dresses SHOULD have pockets. Absolutely. :)

I think they all look great on you, but I would go with Dress #1. Its a bit less work wear and with some fun accessories would look fabulous.

Can't wait to see which one you decide on!

#1 !!! I love it!!

Oooh, fun post! We'll happily be your roommates! I vote for dress #1 because it's fun but a little less casual than the other dresses!

I am super jealous of how tall you are. Your legs look really long in all those pictures.

I've been to a few Iowa-like weddings and let's just say you're going to be one of the best dressed no matter what outfit you wear. That said, you'll probably also be one of the most formally dressed. I bet you'll see lots of sundresses. I like the pants option, because the top offers pattern and color that the other dresses do not. But, as I said, I don't think you can go wrong.

I'd go with the first dress if I were you! The other two are really nice - but you're right, they do look more appropriate for work!! That first dress is totally wedding appropriate and you look great in it!!

I love them all, but my preference is the first dress! Whatever you choose will be great, but I like the flirty look!

I totally agree with you about missing people for outfit selections. Obviously I don't live alone but I have to tell you- Eric is TERRIBLE at helping me with outfits haha. That is probably my top thing I miss about living with girls (though there are a lot of things I don't miss haha). I like Dress #1 the best but you definitely look awesome in all of them!

I would go with dress #1! I also like the jcrew one but #1 who can say no to ruffles!

I love dress #1 on you!

#1 hands down! If you're nervous about the wind run to a local department store and see if you can get a slip (yes they still make slips) or make sure to wear cute underwear ;-)

Your comment about weddings being more casual in the mid-west made me laugh because, yea, things are way more formal here in the north east. However, you look fantastic in the white pants/graphic top and you should definitely wear that on a date sometime!

i like all of the choices but i'm going to go with #1!

First I have to say from the pictures you have very nice calves/legs. I would go with a dress to show those off! i like the first dress but understand about not wanting to have it billow up and expose you! Either way you are going to look great!

Ok, right off, I'd say no to dress number 2 because it just looks kinda boring. Dress number one is sooo cute, but if the wind blows, that really won't mean much. Number 3 is gorgeous! I don't think it's too work-y, I think it's classic, elegant and chic. With the right accessories it'd be gorgeous. I also like outfit number 4, but it does seem to casual to me. So I'd say go for number 3.

And I cannot imagine what living with 41 girls is like, neither in good ways or bad ways, as my mind just cannot comprehend it. :)

You look gorgeous in all of them! Although, I definitely think the first one is the best! It's flirtiest and you never know who you might meet!!! ;)
Where in Iowa is the wedding?? If you'e anywhere near me it would be awesome to meet up!

I vote flirty #1! You look adorable. You will totally have them ruing (rueing!) the day they even broke up with you... or the day you broke up with them. Whatever. What I'm trying to say is... they will be wowwed.

Lisa you are such a little hottie... I like them all - but do lean toward #1 because it's a little more flirty and casual. But the key is to wear whatever you are most comfortable in because that's the one you'll shine in.

#1 because it's cute and a little fun. #3 is cute too, but basic. With accessories, any of the dresses will look great though.

I like the last outfit! Its casual but flirty & totally wedding appropriate!

I love the classic black dress (though you look lovely in ALL of them!) - can't go wrong with traditional :) Also #1 is nice and fun - and accessories will bring everything to life! You're going to look stunning!

I choose option #4 or option #1 with a cute little colored sweater or cardigan thing if you have one. :)

Joey said...

I like option #4. A friend of mine wore something similar to a wedding and I was jealous of how nice she looked. It's a little more "fun" then the other choices as it has some colour (which is always nice for a spring/summer wedding. I also liked choice #1 for the dresses...cute and flirty and I liked the neckline.

BetsE said...

My vote is for #1! Very cute!

Amber said...

First, you're HOT!

Secondly, I vote for the flirty black dress. I LIKE the two middle ones, but they are a bit too business-y, I think. Also, I LOVE the last outfit but worried it might be too casual? Best to go with the flirty black dress! Plus it looks HOT on you!!!!

They are all very nice. For your situation I vote dress 1.. It is the perfect ex boyfriend seeing dress.. ;) The last outfit looks more like you are going clubbing.. but it is very cute..

oh and i am going to be my grandma and say.. STAND UP STRAIGHT!!! hehehe.. love ya! have fun!!!
