It's Party Time!

Wow, oh, wow, my calendar is filling up with parties!  I know it's that time of year, but it still always surprises me to see my calendar fill up.  My condo building had their Christmas party last Thursday, I had 2 birthday parties last weekend (one of which I had to miss because of the flu), I had a holiday service project gathering with my women's networking planning committee on Tuesday, last night I had my office Christmas party, and tomorrow night I am hosting my own little Christmas gathering with friends!  Phew.  That's just the last week or so!  I have one more party - my annual gingerbread house decorating party - and then life is quiet until Christmas! :)

On Saturday night, the theme of my holiday gathering will be "Feliz Navidad".  It's cheesy (no pun intended), I know, but Mexican food is so easy to make gluten free, and it's a cuisine that everyone tends to like.  It's a small, casual party with 3 other couples, and each couple will bring a dish to share.  I'll be making enchiladas (from the new Peas and Thank You cookbook that Amber got me!), tacos with all the fixings, and Tres Leches cake for dessert, which is naturally gluten free (yes, I will be treating myself to dairy tomorrow night!).  I am really excited to make the cake because a) it will introduce me to a new ingredient, masa harina and b) it gives me an excuse to use the double boiler I got for Christmas a couple of years ago!

I'm really excited to gather with friends, enjoy yummy food, play some games, and raise our margaritas glasses and cervezas in celebration of the many good things in life!

Do you  have many holiday parties to attend this year?

I'm trying to limit the holiday parties this year because it's been SUCH an insane fall. Also I'm not feeling the best, so Eric and I are declaring this relaxation weekend (which really isn't because I have serious christmas shopping to do!). I do have my work holiday party next Friday though.

I love the Mexican theme for your party- that is going to be great! I can't wait to see pictures!

It sounds like a blast! I don't have a lot of holiday parties to go to - but our schedules are pretty busy this month. In December we have three immediate family birthdays, the birthday of a close friend's son (so we always go to that party), my office holiday party, an annual cookie exchange (this weekend in fact), and then we have some extended family events to go to right around Christmas. Whew!

Such a busy time for you! We had our party at work yesterday and it was so much fun. My friends are having a casual night in tomorrow to celebrate before the holidays get too crazy, but that's about it for me. I love Mexican food- I hope you have so much fun tomorrow!

usually we do end up with a shitload of christmas parties, but not this year. My company doesn't have one locally, so I've got a holiday party from my favorite triathlon production company FS Series based here in Raleigh in a few weeks, but that's the only one.

Sounds like your party is going to be so much fun! Take pictures :) I have two parties to go to and they are both next week.

Hope you have a great weekend Lisa!

Wow! You are a busy lady! All fun things though. Your party sounds awesome. Whenever I hear someone say "Feliz Navidad"...I think of the weird, not-so-orthodox catholic christmas eve mass we attended last year..Where the closing song of the mass was "Feliz Navidad" with maracas, guitar, and clapper.

So random.

Good luck making Tres Leches. Yum! I do like that cake, but my 1st experience with that cake was not so good. We ordered it in Mexico during our honeymoon. They served it luke warm (like they do all things).

That's a lot of holiday parties but how fun! We have had one big thing a week it seems for the last couple of weeks which is nice. I'm so excited to holiday baking with Nilsa on sunday!

And then we have Christmas with the kidlets a week from tomorrow and then on the 23rd we go to STL for the holiday!

I hope you like the enchilada's as much as I do!

I haven't had any holiday parties yet but next week is the busy one for me. I have my running friends Christmas party, yoga studio Christmas party and work Christmas party all within a few days of each other. But the work one is in the afternoon and not after work so that's going to be nice!

Your party sounds so fun!!! :) I have been throwing a Christmas party on December 23rd every year since I was in 8th grade! It has become a "look forward" to event every year :) For many of our out of town friends, it's the one time we all reunite! This year, we've realized our guest list has grown so big that I might actually have to rent a hall next year instead of hosting in my home. THis is a good thing, though!!!!

I'm going to come to Minneapolis just so you can cook for me - the menu sounds fantastic!

We have two work parties (Sweets' next week, mine in Vegas in January). But, we get a heavy dose of Christmas parties/gatherings via Sweets' family. There's the family gathering on a day other than Christmas. There's the Christmas Eve party and church services. And there's the Christmas Day party. (There is a group of about 10 couples who rotate who hosts the Eve and Day parties each year.) Then, there's the wedding on December 30 this year. Smaller gatherings with my family. Baking holiday cookies with Nora and going to see Christmas lights with other friends. A couple playdates and a birthday party. And all of a sudden, our December is jam packed full and I'm exhausted just thinking about it. =)

Wow, you are once again a busy bee! I love Mexican food. I think that is a great idea. That's so cool that Amber got you that cookbook. Your hints worked! She is sweet.

I have NO Christmas parties to go to! That's what happens when you move around a lot. However, I always get together with my girlfriends from my home town the day after Christmas. We have breakfast, marvel over how big the kids have gotten and have a really great time before all heading back to wherever we came from. I can't wait.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better! Bon Chance with your party!

See, no our parties tend to happen more at new years, with the pre-Christmas nights out focusing around gigs or going out for tea.

But my, you have been busy! I would like pictures of your desert please!

We have already attended 2 Christmas parties and hosted one. I think that it is for parties, but we do have 3 dinners.
