Looking Forward

It's time for another looking forward post!

Today I am looking forward to hosting my annual gingerbread decorating party!  This year my friend is bringing her 5 year old son along.  Chances are, the house he decorates will look far better than mine (seriously, I missed the art gene).  We'll snack on veggies and hummus, drink hot cocoa with marshmallows, and do some decorating!

This week  I am going to Christmas Concert at my friend's church.  She is in the choir and they put on a huge concert every year, so I am excited to check it out.  It will be a great way to get into the spirit of the season!

This month I will return to North Dakota to celebrate Christmas with my family.  It's probably the last time we'll celebrate Christmas in North Dakota, as going forward we'll celebrate at my parents' lake home (which will be completed this summer).  I will also celebrate New Years Eve with my family, and Abby & Ryan will be home from Arizona!  NYE is totally a family holiday for me.  We play games, drink grasshoppers and other festive drinks, and we may go to bed before midnight.  I much prefer celebrating it with family versus going to a bar because let me tell - NYE is one of those nights when a single person feels ESPECIALLY single!!!

This year (meaning within the next twelve months) I will travel to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia to witness Amber & Eric getting married, and will also travel to St. Louis, MO to witness Nora & Knight getting married.  I'll be a bridesmaid in both of their weddings and am so excited to be part of their special days!

What are you looking forward to?

I didn't know you were a bridesmaid in Nora's wedding too, my you are popular :) Makes sense though since you are awesome!

I am also hosting my gingerbread decorating party for a few kiddos today. I'm very excited! I may have to do a looking forward post because right I am just so ready for a break from work- the kiddos are fighting like siblings and clearly need a break from each other!

Ugh NYE out at bars is overrated. And I'm not single and under 30! It's just so crowded and people get so drunk that you can't enjoy yourself. I much prefer staying in with close friends and playing games :)

Today - Baking homemade chocolate chip & M&M cookies to bring as goodies for work tomorrow

This Week - Having Friday off and getting my Christmas shopping done

This Month - Christmas, of course! I love this holiday so, so much.

This Year - Other than Christmas and having lots of days off, not much. I *am* looking forward to my cruise in 2012! :)

Lots of fun weddings coming up! And yeah, I don't "do" the bar scene on NYE. Too many people, too expensive, no thank you! I much prefer to have a party at my house and just eat good food and drink with my friends. Who cares if you have a sig other or not when you can all stand around and sing/scream "Auld Lang Syne" together with the people you love!

So many things for you to look forward to! How fun!

For me...

Today - a shopping trip across the border with my parents this evening (the exciting thing about being 20 mins from the US!)

This Week - A pre-Christmas family celebration with my uncle, cousins, Mom, Dad, sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephew.

This Month - the Christmas holidays.

This Year - Just seeing what the year brings!

You have lots to look forward to in the next days, week, month & year, intermingled with a few "not so fun" events, but I'm sure you will feel much better after the sinus affair! Looking forward to seeing you for the next two weekends!

I kind of love that you're a bridesmaid in weddings of women you met through blogging. What a cool community this is!

This is such a neat post idea! That's so awesome that you get to be a bridesmaid at two weddings, I loved being one at my brother's wedding 2 years ago in Mexico. Such a fun experience! :)

Ah, I hope your party was fabulous! I'm making cookies with a friend on Friday and the manfriend is coming along to be the "taste tester." She and I have done it the past few years so it's nice to keep the tradition going.

I love the gingerbread house party, and I just may steal it next year! ;)

I agree with you on NYE, it's a horrible holiday for singles. I may already have some anxiety about it and I'm trying not to think about it. I'm glad you are able to spend it with family. What you described sounds heavenly!

Another great idea for a post. I know I have seen them before, but I just re-realized that I like this idea a lot!

Today: going to see a HS friend who just had a baby and who I have not seen in probably 10 years (I admit to being a tad nervous. I don't know why)

Tomorrow: Making more cookies! I love making them, I just have to keep giving them away or I may just eat them all!

This weekend: Getting together with friends to roll out and decorate sugar cookies with the kids.

10 Days: Christmas! Hurray! Games with family, babies, food, friends...it's going to be great!

I love this time of year.

I'm looking forward to a few days off! Seeing the kids, time to read or "sort" or just enjoy!

Speaking of which -- your card arrived today. You are far ahead of me, but I'm working on it! Loved the photos!
