Favorite Things: A Wish List

Well I am back from my trip to Charlotte.  I am not really ready to put words to my experience in a post yet, so suffice it to say that the trip took my breath away.  Except not in a good way - more in a "someone kicked me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me" kind of way.  I'll talk more about it next week when I've had more time to process it.  I still have a job but that is the only silver lining I can find at this point.

So today, I need to do a mindless, happy post.  I started sharing Friday Favorites last month when I talked about my nephew date.  This month I thought I'd talk about some of my favorite things which I wouldn't mind receiving for my upcoming birthday, which is just under a month away!

Here are some things I am wishing for these days....

1.  Medal holder.  Over the years of racing, I have started to accumulate medals, which I just shove in various boxes and nooks and crannies.  It is time to properly display these medals that I have worked so hard to earn.  There are lots of medal holders out there, but this one (pictured above) is my favorite!

2.  Apron.  In my world, a girl can not have too many aprons!  Given my recent obsession with all things yellow, I am particularly smitten with this one!

3.  Chopper.  While I do find it soothing to slice and dice veggies when cooking, sometimes it would be nice to swiftly chop up veggies into uniform sizes!  My mom has this chopper and loves it, and I know I would get a lot of use out of it (and might be more apt to make homemade salsa more often!).

4.  Lasagna Pan.  I have several cake pans, but I do not have a lasagna pan so each time I make lasagna, I struggle to get it to all fit in the pan!  Anyways, this one also comes with a roasting rack so maybe I could also use it to learn how to roast a chicken (I feel a bit sheepish over the fact that I am almost 32 and have never roasted a chicken).

And there you have it.  My 2013 birthday wish list. I also feel a bit self-centered posting a wish list, but I think the people in my life who have to shop for me (hi mom!) like a little guidance every now and then.  And I loved reading other people's wish lists around the holidays!

If it was your birthday next month, what would you be wishing for?

I feel the same way about posting a wish list but I LOVE reading others, so I feel like it's okay! I love that medal holder! I should get one too even though I only have 2 medals haha.

Don't feel self-centered for posting this - it's a lot of fun things! (Hooray for your birthday being soon!)

Hope this weekend is restorative for you. Thinking about you friend!

Sorry to hear that your trip didn't go well. Keep thinking those happy thoughts!! My birthday is in march but I haven't really started thinking what I want.

Hope everything is OK! Very cute apron. You know I have that chopper and have never used, I keep thinking I should!

That chopper is great and I always think of new ways to use it! I expecially like to use it when I make potato soup or potato salad as the size is so uniform! Or to chop boiled eggs for egg salad, too! Well, I could go on and on, but I do love it! Thanks for the ideas and I hope you have time to process this work ordeal over the weekend. We need time to do that, too!

I love reading lists like this, because it tells readers more about you without you having to write a post directly about yourself. From this post, a reader who doesn't know you could easily gather that you love cooking and running (and your mother)! =) Since you love those things so much, maybe you need to do both of them this weekend to help right the wrongs of this past week. Heart you, girl.

That apron is adorable! I have a friend who would love it just for the sheer fact that the color yellow is involved. :) Being as how I suck at chopping veggies and don't really find any pleasure in it at all, I would love to have a chopper like that, as well.

Don't feel self centered at all doing this post! It's better to ask for exactly what you want, rather than get some stuff you will never use or didn't want. That's how I think of it anyways :)

Hope you have a great weekend

I've never roasted a chicken either!

Love that apron; it looks just like the one you bought for me except in yellow!

I can't believe your birthday is so soon! Time is already flying it seems.

Thinking of you and BIG HUGS!

Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of love to you! I hope this weekend helps you process everything that happened during your Charlotte trip. :(

I love your list and I think wish lists are really fun to read. As you know I got the same medal rack from that company and it's really good quality. Unfortunately, they drilled the holes in the back on the bottom so my mom hasn't been able to hang it up but soon hopefully!

Been thinking about you lots! This is a fun post that hopefully lifted your mood a bit, I hope you get all the things you asked for. That apron is so cute!

Uh oh. Hope the processing lessens the blow. Am glad the job is still in place and I hope that either the news/change can be reversed or that there truly will be a positive that comes out of it all. I'm sure there will be even if it's not fun in the process of it all. Keep your head up, heart full, and belief strong. And for real, definitely time to put those ribbons on display!!

I was just thinking of doing a similar post.

Chris bought me that same apron for Xmas but in coral.

Praying for you during this tough time. It is going to all work out!

My birthday is in March and I wish that I had more time to read! I know that sounds silly but I love reading and I just don't have much time for it right now.

I'd be wishing for a gold chain with something very small/simple on it. I have a lot of outfits that would look better with a touch of gold, but I don't need any more long, chunky necklaces ... just something dainty.

That is a super cute apron. I love the one that you got me! It's like dressing up for cooking! Also, that chopper looks great. I had a mandolin and it was so fun (and easy) to use, but I have never had a chopper like that. I like it!

Wow, that medal holder is cool! I always wonder what other people do with their running medals, we just hang them on doorknobs around the house!

You always think of the best things! That chopper looks awesome and I really like that medal holder as well. Did you find it on Etsy? That's where I got Bill's and he really loves it! The only thing I would suggest is a bib holder as well if you keep those!

I hope you are having a relaxing weekend and spending some good quality time with friends and Phil.

Right now I am wishing for airline ticket vouchers and for a pair of Hunter wellies.

I love your idea for storing all your medals! I have my medals in the most RANDOM places. For instance, I found one in an old purse the other day. (in my defense I've moved 4 times in the past few years...so it makes sense when I find something in an odd place)

You need to get that apron! So cute! PS - when I holded my work's christmas party, I got totally teased about my large collection of aprons. I blame you for starting that fabulous addiction ;)

Hope this weekend is restoring your spirits! I can't believe our birthday month is approaching!!

I'm sorry to hear your trip wasn't so good. Hope things are okay regardless. I do feel funny posting these kinds of things, but I remind myself that I like reading others' lists AND gift givers appreciate some guidance. My mom actually made a purchase based on my Christmas wish list on the blog. Love the few aprons I have. I just don't always remember to use them.
