On Holding onto Summer...

Fall has arrived here in Minneapolis and I could NOT be happier. I was so over summer. Turns out that Heat + Humidity + no central air + marathon training = 1 Snarky Lisa. But the temps have dropped and I am embracing fall with open arms!

But I know not everyone is feeling this way. So if you are looking for a way to hold onto summer for just a bit longer, I recommend making, in my opinion, the perfect summer drink: a margarita!

I tend to prefer my margaritas on the rocks, but that requires a precise mixologist, and that is not me. So this blended concoction is pretty fan-freaking-tastic. This is my sister Abby's recipe; she made them for us when my parents & I visited Tucson in May.

It's easy peasy, and fool proof - so here goes!

Place the following ingredients in a blender:

1 can of lime-aid concentrate
juice of 1 squeezed lime
3/4 c. Tequila
1/4 c. Triple Sec
top off blender with ice to 'fill' line

Blend away, and voila!

Make sure you rim the glasses with salt! It makes them even more delicious!

I whipped up a couple of batches of these when Nora, Manda, and Kyla were visiting and they gave it their stamp of approval. And can I just say how much the free blender that I got from CSN rocks?

So while I have zero interest in holding onto summer, I will continue to blended up this fabulous concoction throughout the fall and into winter.

Are you sad to see summer go or are you like me and are thrilled that fall has arrived? Also, what is your favorite summer drink?

Those margaritas look yummy!!! For several weeks this summer Miss K and I were doing the daiquiris, strawberry or pina colada. They were so perfect for the summer heat and humidity.
While I'm happy fall is here I will miss summer, it's been my favorite in a very long time!

This is what I planned on blogging about today - the changing seasons! :)
I may complain about the summer ending but I'm almost always ready for fall!

While sipping a glass of sangria outside on the deck is lovely, I'll definitely take fall and some sort of pumpkin spice latte instead!

Ah, fall! I'm pretty much a one-drink kind of girl - fuzzy navel - and it's all year round. (Haha that totally makes me sound like a huge drinker!)

Those margaritas were pretty damn tastey! I drank a lot of beer and fruity wine this summer. I've recently rediscovered how much I enjoy whiskey sours, so thats been my go to drink of choice lately.

Thanks for sharing the recipe! I am definitely not looking forward to the end of summer, which seems to be happening as we speak. I see all these "I <3 Fall" posts everywhere and wonder if I'm the only one who DOESN'T like the season - purely for the fact that it's the longest period before summer comes once again!

Those were some darn good margaritas indeed! Favorite summer drink... that's a tough one. Probably a margarita or back before my allergy days a strawberry + lime smoothie.

I'm good with fall arriving. In fact it would be great if fall would never leave, just hang around until spring!

That was a tasty drink! I love fall, but for some reason I just have not been excited to let go of summer this year! I think it's because I know what comes after Fall and each year it is harder to take! I love the warm sunshine and the long days of summer, but also love fall, so let's hope it is good this year! The last two were so wet and miserable that it affected our rural economy deeply!

You're missing just one ingredient: beer! Seriously! That recipe is awfully close to our beergarita recipe ... and it rocks!

Of course, I'm not sad to see summer go, because I wasn't allowed to drink many of my favorite summer libations. Margaritas are a favorite as is a good old bottle of cold beer.

I am not super excited about fall being here yet...especially when they are talking about snow in the forecast for this weekend. Yes, snow in September! Boo!

But those margaritas do look fantastic!

I'm sad but I am saying Summer doesn't end until next week. However there wasn't even a gradual change of temp it just got cold and my fingers are already numb all the time. ME DISLIKE.

YUM! I think we should whip up a couple of these the night before the marathon - remember my drinking + running theory!? ;-)

I do enjoy a good blended drink in the summer: margarita, daquiri etc. But a BELLINI is my favourite. I adore bellini's!

Ooo! I feel honored that you used one of my "recipes" :)

Those are excellent! I am all about the summer drinks and rock them all year round. Maybe in January when you come I will have to make you my Pina Coladas ;)

I am SO READY for summer to be DONE! Ahhhhh. It been in the 100's ALL WEEK. I want to wear sweaters, jeans, boots so bad. I tried wearing jeans the other day - and that was a really dumb attempt. Since it was 102 outside.

Margs are the perfect summer drink! I've been thinking about making them quite a bit actually and inviting a few ladies over to enjoy them with.

Summer is my least favorite month so I am SO HAPPY to see it go! It gets way too hot and sticky and muggy around here to be enjoyable.

Margaritas are one of the few alcoholic beverages I've found that I like. I have such a low tolerance for alcohol but margaritas are perfect!

I do love fall- I love the weather, apples, all the great fall veggies especially squash, pumpkins, caramel apples etc.

However, I hate that it gets darker in fall (I hate waking up in the dark!) and I hate that fall leads to winter because my absolute least favorite season is definitely winter. Also I hate that school starts haha.

I am both happy and sad, there are things that I will miss, like eating outside, and it staying light out for so long. I will also miss the great lighting for food photos! I am looking forward to the colours, smells, and sounds of Fall, as well as the flavours of hearty Fall meals.
