TGIF

Wow, Friday already?  This week flew by!  Here's a little recap of my week!

The high of my week was starting my new job!  The first week has been great and I feel like it is a place where I can settle in and work for many years. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming. After essentially doing the same thing for the last 4.5 years, it's great to be challenged and learning lots of new things.

The low of my week was my horrible night of sleep on Tuesday night.  I just could not fall asleep.  The last time I looked at the clock it was 2:15 and I got up at 5:15 so I got about 2.5 hours of sleep at most which is not nearly enough.  I guess my body is still adjusting to not being on Ambien and it didn't help that my mind was in over-drive mode with the information overload that goes along with starting a new job. I am envious of people who are able to easily fall asleep and stay asleep!

A book I am reading is Dog Crazy by Meg Donohue.  Nora read it and loved it so I decided to check it out!

For my workouts, I did a speed/tempo workout with my club on Monday, a strength training workout on Tuesday morning and then swam 0.75 miles at a local lake with Phil on Tuesday night, a hill workout with my club on Wednesday night, and a brick workout (bike + run) last night.  Today is a rest day (thank God!), tomorrow I will run 16 miles with my club and then Sunday I'm hoping to go on a longer bike ride.  For awhile there it didn't really feel like I was training for a marathon but now that my long runs are soooo long it's starting to feel more real.  Add in triathlon training and I'm feeling pretty fatigued these days.  But the triathlon will be behind me in less than a month (it's 3 weeks from Saturday - yikes!).

The best money I spent was on groceries for the dinner party I am hosting on Saturday night!  I'm trying some new recipes so am crossing my fingers that everything turns out!

My plans this weekend include staying in tonight so Phil and I can start to work on some of the food for the dinner party.  Tomorrow I will run with my club in the morning and then spend the rest of the day getting ready for my dinner party which starts at 7.  On Sunday morning I'm going to a hands-on clinic on how to change a bike tire and then hopefully I will go on a longer bike ride.

What was the high of your week?  What was the best money you spent?

Your dinner party sounds like it will be tons of fun and of course we want to hear all about it! Glad the new job is going well -- that's huge. I'm sure the sleep will even itself out.

As you might guess, the highlight was Rick's birthday. More on that later!

I am glad to hear your first week of work is going well! I have been wondering how it's been going. How frustrating about your sleep. I can understand why all the information you took in could keep your mind racing combined with coming off Ambien - you poor thing! Good luck on your 16 miler this weekend! I am sort of missing marathon training especially because if I'd decided to run mine in October I'd be pretty much on the same schedule as you.

The best money I spent was on Simba even though I had to put it all on a credit card. I have gotten a lot of flack from family/friends over the amount I spent on him but my alternative was putting him down and I could not bring myself to do that. He's only 2! So I may be paying off the thousands I put on my credit card but I will have Simba snuggles for years to come and you can't put a price on that in my book.

That's wonderful that your job is going well, and that you could see yourself staying there for a long time :-)

The high of my week was I got an email to do an interview for a local radio show - I'm scared, but it's a good opportunity. The best money that I spent this week was hopefully on a lottery ticket - haha! We'll see!

Best money we spent was probably on an impromptu ice cream night with the girls on Tuesday. You're only a kid once and summers are short, so we figured, why not?

The dinner party tomorrow night sounds awesome :)

I had the sleep problem Wednesday night because I had a Thai tea in the evening. It was the worst, and I was really struggling yesterday. I slept much better last night. PHEW.

Glad to hear the job is going well so far ~ hooray!

So happy that your 1st week at the new job went well, and it is a place that you see yourself growing and staying at for years! What a great feeling.

Marathon and triathlon training has to be a beast! You are going to do so well at your sprint tri! And the cross training is good for your body.

Anxious to hear how your dinner party went last night!

Happy one week workiversary :D And still wishing you all the best with getting your sleep sorted out - I'm a girl who needs her sleep and this sounds very much like torture to me so I really do hope that things are getting better.

The best money I spent was at our little community market on limes, homemade pickle, cake, and second hand books.

Sounds like a great week except for the sleepless night! I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon!
I can only imagine how tired you are from all this training, so hopefully the triathlon training will end soon and then you just have the marathon! What weekend is that? Hope it's before our "girl get-away"!
Hope your new job continues to be everything you have been expecting!

So glad you had a great first week at work and a good training week but definitely a bummer to hear about how tired you are, that is not fun! I really hope you are able to sleep better soon.

The best money I spent last week was on two bottles of wine from one of our local wineries, I cracked a bottle last night and it is sooo yummy! Love the nice local wineries we are having pop up in our area, we may have to visit one of them when you are here!
