I feel like a good chunk of August should have been renamed "Aug-tober" given how chilly it was (booo!!!!) but all in all it was a great month! I went to my parents lake home twice and went to Chicago for work so those three trips made the month go by especially fast! Here's how it shaped up!
Music:
** crickets ** I rarely listen to the radio these days so am completely out of touch with what's new and worth listening to these days!
Books:
August was another strong reading month for me! My favorite book was The Kind Worth Killing. I usually don't read
thrillers but this came recommended by a friend with good taste so I
decided to check it out and am so glad I did. It's a total page
turner. My least favorite book, by far, was Sense and Sensibility. Similar to previous months, the books with stars behind them counted towards the Read Harder Challenge. I only have one book left to read for that challenge!
The Three Weissmanns of Westport by Cathleen Schine* - 3 stars
The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain - 4 stars
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi - 4 stars
The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson - 5 stars
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen* - 1 stars (note to self: stop reading classics)
The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen - 3 stars
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz - 4 stars
Miles:
August was also a strong month for me in terms of mileage and workouts! I ran 138 miles, biked 54 miles and swam 2.5 miles. I only fit in 3 strength training workouts, which is kind of pathetic, but that should pick up this month as I'm trying to strength train twice a week.
Looks:
I've got nothing noteworthy to share. I'm basically re-wearing the same summer outfits over and over again. I feel pretty meh about my clothing options right now so while I am not ready for summer to be over, I am ready for a new season of clothing. I really need to do some shopping soon, though, as I have purged so much clothing over the last 8 months. If only I enjoyed shopping...

Great job with reading & miles! I am totally with you on being ready for a new season of clothes, but definitely not ready for summer to end!
I had some good luck with shirts at H&M the other week.....I'm struggling this week for clothes as I didn't pack all of my tank tops and sweaters, so I can either re-wear clothes that I wore to work last week, or I can wear 3/4 length shirts and sweat when outside. I HATE how strong our air conditioning is.
I, too, am ready for some new clothes but want summer to last for at least 6 weeks! My flowers are blooming so beautifully now and I hate to bid them adieu! I really do not mind hot weather as it is so fleeting in our area, but of course, I don't work out in the blazing sun all day so that might be a different story!
I always appreciate your book lists! If you come across any that your Grandma would enjoy let me know. She finished that 5 book series we started on our trip back from Charlotte and the 6th book isn't released until February so she is looking for ideas. I download them to her kindle so any suggestions would be great!
I am so glad august is finally over. You had a really solid month!
I don't enjoy shopping anymore, either. Used to love it. Now it's all about getting in and getting out as fast as possible.
I have been listening to a lot of country as it is the ONLY station that doesn't do obnoxious talk radio about stupid things in the morning. At work I use iHeart to listen to the DMB station when there isn't anyone else in my area.
Last month was a not good reading month for me, but I'm working to get back at it. I'm reading the Nightingale, thanks to your suggestion, and am enjoying to so far! Thanks for the rec :)
I am putting off the classics category for the Book Riot challenge for as long as I can because I am soooo not looking forward to reading a classic novel. I feel no shame in admitting, as a book lover, classic novels are not my favorite.
I read The Girl with a Clock for a Heart by Peter Swanson, which was a weird and interesting read. You might like it if you loved his other novel!
I don't listen to much music anymore either as I don't drive a lot (used to at work a lot). Though I do put Spotify on now and then to have a dance party with Amelia :) Going to check out that book you recommended as I like thrillers :)
I forget about music a lot too now because of podcasts, but then when I do listen to it I'm like I should do this more often, it's very calming. I did listen to Pandora a lot while setting up my classroom :) I have also been listening to the toddler pandora station which I shouldn't like as much as I do, but it's so good (obviously only WITH Max, I'm not that ridiculous lol).
Wow -- you've been reading a lot! Sounds like a good bunch, though. And I'm all for the crickets!
I really need to get going on the Read Harder challenge! I am only halfway done. But even if I don't finish I definitely read some books I would not have read otherwise. August felt like a very blegh month for me but I have high hopes for September to be better and it's been off to a great start already yesterday and today!
I am re-wearing the same summer outfits over and over again ... like about 5 dresses, that I rotate though. I'm getting a little bored of it too. I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff, and then pick up a few new pieces that are versatile.
My closet is so bare but it feels good knowing I now am wearing what is just in it so you are no alone with rehearing. I only have 2 pairs of jeans to my name! I know.. sad. I do have another stitch fix coming. They are covering the styling fee this round since the last was so horrible and after my customer service write in they begged to give them another chance. We shall see what arrives this week or next. See, and here I think you are always dressed so cute.
I need a book recommendation!! Just finished "12 Months" - which was a fun interruption read. I needed something quick.
I am SO with you on being tired of summer. So tired of shorts and sundresses. but it's so freaking hot, it's hard to pull anything else off! Luckily my office is really good, so I can get by wearing sweaters ;)
What a rockin' workout month you had!!
I put The Kind Worth Killing on hold for two people just today! Next time I'm in the mood for a thriller, I'm going to give it a try.
