It's vacation eve for me (eeks!! so excited!!!), so I've got no coherent thoughts going through my head, which means today will be a super productive day at work for me. ;) So here is a fun little meme that my sister posted over the weekend!
Four names that people call me other than my real name:
1. D-Rod - my old boss started that and it sort of stuck.
2. Lees - that is the most common shortening of my name.
3. Sleaza - My college friends used to call me this. Even one of my friend's mom's called me this for awhile! I think it was funny because I am so far from sleazy (trust me on this).
4. The Denominator - this was another college nickname for me as I was (and still am) such a math nerd. I used to participate in math competitions in high school and this was a name our team used and I told some friends about it and from then on, it was my nickname.
Four jobs I’ve had:
1. Piano teacher (in high school)
2. Waitress (in college)
3. Resort front desk clerk in Colorado (1 summer and 2 winter breaks of college)
4. Fixed Income Strategist (current job)
Four movies I’ve watched more than once:
1. You've Got Mail
2. The Holiday
3. (500) Days of Summer
4. Pretty Woman
Four books I’d recommend:
1. Still Alice by Lisa Genova
2. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
3. City of Thieves by David Benioff
4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Four places I’ve lived:
1. Minneapolis, MN
2. Charlotte, NC
3. Mooloolaba, Australia (when I studied abroad)
4. Grand Forks, ND (where I went to college)
Four places I’ve visited:
1. Paris
2. New Zealand (south island)
3. Munich
4. New York City
Four things I prefer not to eat:
1. Pizza (I know I'm in the minority on this but I've never been a fan)
2. Sweet potatoes (again, I'm in the minority)
3. Goat cheese
4. Vegetables that come from a can, with the exception of corn. I'll eat that.
Four of my favorite foods:
1. Watermelon
2. Indian Curry
3. Salted Caramel anything (but especially macarons)
4. Pickles
Four TV shows I watch
1. Top Chef
2. Parenthood
3. House of Cards
4. Sex and the City
Four things I’m looking forward to this year:
1. Our trip to Jamaica - we leave tomorrow!!
2. Celebrating Christmas with my family - especially seeing my sister and BIL from Tucson!
3. Visiting Amber in Kamloops in September (finally get to see where she lives!!)
4. Meeting Becky and Ben's baby!
Four things I’m always saying:
1. It is what it is.
2. Oopsie daisy (yes that makes me sound like I am about 90)
3. Seriously?
4. I'm cold (because I am always cold, especially lately with how cold our weather has been!)
I won't be posting while I am on vacation so will be turning the lights off on this space until the week of the 15th. "See" you all in mid-December!!!

Finish the Sentence...
San posted this last week and I thought it was a fun way to get to know more about here, so I thought I'd play along!
Maybe I should tackle some of the organization projects on my to-do list this weekend.
I love coffee with International Delights Fat Free French Vanilla Creamer (but not any other brands. I am picky).
People would say that I’m driven.
I don’t understand why people choose to respond to all at work. Especially when it's a distribution list with hundreds of people on it...
When I wake up in the morning I check my email.
I lost my mittens all the time when I was a child.
Life is full of wonderful adventures.
My past is full of memories of time spent with family.
I get annoyed when people drive slow in the passing lane.
Parties are fun to plan and host!
I wish I had more money in my budget for vacations.
Dogs are not an animal I would ever want to own.
Cats are something I am allergic to and, similar to dogs, not something I'd ever want to own.
Tomorrow I’m hosting a "Christmas in June" party for my co-workers since we never got our act together around the holidays! I'm really excited - we'll hang out by my pool and grill!
I have low tolerance for arrogance.
I’m totally terrified of mice, snakes, spiders, and creepy crawly things!
I wonder why I am so hard on myself.
Never in my life have I eaten a pickled egg. I like pickles. I like eggs. The thought of the two together makes me shudder for some reason.
High school was one of the worst phases of my life. I don't think you could pay me to relive those years.
When I’m nervous I talk fast.
One time at a family gathering I showed up wearing the exact same outfit as my cousin, who is 11 months younger than me. We were (and still are) like sisters from another mister.
Take my advice: Do not rush into the decision to buy a home Think long and hard about it, and make sure the home you select is what you truly want.
Making my bed is completely mandatory. I can't get into an unmade bed.
I’m almost always over-scheduling my life, but I kind of like it that way.
I’m addicted to my iPhone.
I want someone to help me hang some pictures in my living room - nearly one year later, I still haven't hung any...
Play along and fill in a couple of the sentences!

Things You Didn't Know About Me...
Happy Friday! This week has been better than expected. It started off wonderfully by finding out that my dad is cancer free! Getting that news really put life in perspective for me - my dad's health trumps all other concerns. I am still waiting for the reorg changes to be announced at work, but I know no matter what happens, I'll figure it out.
San did this post earlier this week. It was fun to read and I learned a lot about her, so I am borrowing it from her!
I am very disciplined.
I think I am a logical person.
I know I am far from perfect.
I have a wonderful family and group of friends that bring meaning to my life.
I wish I was not so hard on myself.
I hate feeling like I will be late for something.
I miss family/friends that live far away.
I fear that I will never get married.
I hear the sound of my furnace.
I smell the french cade & lavender candle on my coffee table.
I crave pickles.
I search for ways to be better at my job.
I wonder if I will run a 4:10 marathon this fall.
I regret buying my condo.
I love reading.
I ache for Paris.
I am not a patient person.
I believe in God.
I dance at wedding dances.
I sing along with music in my head on runs.
I cry very easily.
I fight for what I believe in.
I win banagram games most of the time (unless I play my uncle Paul. He always wins)
I lose most cribbage games that I play against my dad.
I never leave the house without making my bed.
I always remember that I am blessed to have healthy nieces/nephews.
I confuse the words "lend" and "borrow."
I listen actively.
I can usually be found studying at my dining room table most evenings.
I am scared of snakes, spiders, and other creepy crawly thinigs.
I need order in my life.
I am happy about the progress I am making on my CFA studying.
I imagine a life where I am a CFA charterholder and can be done with tests for good.
Using some of these prompts, what are some things I don't know about you?

Seven Links
Amber tagged me to do and I am finally getting around to it! I think most have seen the explanation of this meme, so here goes!
1. Most Beautiful: On Singing Another Melody
There are no pictures in this post, but it's my most beautiful post in that it eloquently captured where I was at in my life at that point. Here is a quote that particularly sums it up:
"I sometimes feel like that ballerina - trapped in a music box, singing the same song, spinning in circles."
It was a post inspired by a song by Regina Spektor and in that post, I announced I was returning to Paris to celebrate my 30th birthday.
2. Most Popular: Giveaway Post
This is probably cheating as giveaway posts are very popular in general, but I freaking made someone a scarf and hat!! I look back and think - how in the heck did I have time to do that??
3. Most Controversial: The e-Reader Debate
I am not a controversial blog poster... Or a controversial person in general... so my most controversial post was probably the post about the e-Reader!
4. Most Helpful Post: ** insert crickets** Date Night it the Kitchen
I am really not a helpful blogger. Sorry peeps, if you are coming here for help, you are at the wrong blog. ;) But I know that Becky made this recipe, so I guess it counts as helpful as she learned a new recipe as a result!
5. A Post Who's Success Surprised You: 10 Days of Thanksgiving
I've done this post series three times now and Erin and Becky ended up doing it with me! It was the first time that I inspired others to do a post theme!
6. A Post You Feel Did Not Get the Attention it Deserved: Letter to Me
Maybe this one? I thought it would be more popular as the letter I included is something that has hit home with me.
7. The Post you are Most Proud of: Why
This is the post I wrote when the Barrister and I broke up at the end of 2010. It was difficult to write, but I am very proud of this post (and all of my relationship posts) because I opened my heart and was very honest - which made me very vulnerable. While I was vulnerable in opening my heart, this post also showed the strength I displayed in making the decision to walk away from a relationship that I knew in my heart was not the right one for me.
I also could have chosen this post for most beautiful and for most popular. I have come a long way since I wrote that post in January. It's hard to believe it was just over 6 months ago. My, how life has changed - for the better. For the longest time, I had this quote as the background of my computer and wondered when I would find joy:
Well, it's been found. I actually never thought I could be this happy as a single person, but I am actually significantly happier than I was in my past relationships. And that is a wonderful thing.
Tell me about a post(s) you would choose for any of these 7 categories - and the url so I can read the post(s)!

Blogger Award
Way back in March, Kyria of Travel Spot graced me with this blogger award. Over a month later, I am finally getting around to doing it!
I am supposed to list 5 random things about myself and pass it onto 5 people!
1. I love puzzles - except human ones... aka pretty much all of my ex-boyfriends....
2. I do most of my runs on the various lake paths around Minneapolis and I sort of HAVE to run counter clockwise. I've tried switching it up and running clockwise, but it just feels 'wrong'.
3. If I could wear a dress every day, I would! Dresses are my favorite thing to wear by far. I'm slowly building up my dress wardrobe so I can wear them nearly every day.
4. I may or may not drink pickle juice from the jar on a somewhat regular occasion... I just figure it means I am lacking in sodium or something as I only tend to crave it when I am running a fair regularly (like I am these days).
5. I need more personal space than the average person. I kind of hate it when someone uses the bathroom stall next to me when there are other stalls further from mine open... or sits next to me on the bus... or stands too close to me in an elevator.
I am supposed to list 5 people, but it is too tough to choose. So instead, I'd love it if you share some random tidbits of information about you!

ABCs
Happy Friday! Everyone and their mom is doing this, so here goes!
Age: 30
Bed size: Queen. Best furniture investment ever. I adore my bed.
Chore you dislike: Cleaning the bathroom - especially the shower!
Dogs: No thank you. I like the idea of having a dog to go running with, but that's about it. I get very nervous around dogs, especially when they jump on you...
Essential start to your day: Scrambled eggs w/ lots of salsa. Best breakfast ever.
Favorite color: Either pink or navy.
Gold or silver: I prefer silver for engagement/wedding rings, but I like gold better for every day jewelry. Which I rarely wear, so this question is sort of irrelevant for me!
Height: 5'7"
Instruments you play(ed): Trumpet & piano
Job title: Fixed Income Analyst. But I usually tell people Investment Analyst because when I say "Fixed Income", many people have no idea what that means...
Kids: Hopefully some day.
Live: Suburb of Minneapolis, MN.
Mom’s name: Marlys. It's the most mispronounced name ever. It's pronounced: Mar-Liss. Super simple, but boy people come up with some interesting pronunciations!
Nicknames: Lees, Dotz, and D-Rod. The last 2 are because of my last name. There are also some less flattering, like Sleaza. I am not at all sleazy, but my friends started calling me this in college and it sort of stuck. In fact, one of my friend's moms calls me Sleaza...
Overnight hospital stays: I spent about 3 days in the hospital when I was in 6th grade because I got a horrible sinus infection and was so so so sick.
Pet peeve: Just one? Then I have to go with tardiness. It makes my blood boil when people are late!
Quote from a movie: I love Anthony Hopkin's speech about love from Meet Joe Black but that's sort of long... So I will go with a quote from Notting Hills: "After all... I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."
And my favorite funny quote: "I have nipples, Greg, could you milk me?"
Righty or Lefty: Righty
Siblings: 2 older brothers, an older sister, and a younger sister
Time you wake up: 5:15 during the week. Around 7:30-8 on the weekends.
Underwear: Yep, I wear them.
Vegetables you don’t like: Sweet potatoes. I think they are so trendy these days, but I do not care for them. I like my vegetables to be savory, not sweet!
What makes you run late: Sending 1 more email or commenting on 1 more blog.
X-Rays you’ve had: Arm when I fractured it and neck when I had neck a couple of years ago. I think that's it!
Yummy food you make: I don't really have a signature dish... I don't cook for others very often. My fave dish that I make for myself is Beef w/ Pomegranate sauce served with mashed potatoes w/ pureed Navy beans for a little extra protein. Mmm.
Zoo animal favorite: Monkeys!
Enjoy the weekend, everyone! I have absolutely nothing planned, which I am happy about! I plan on studying, sleeping in, and hopefully running outdoors for a change!! Do you have any fun plans?

Motivation Monday: A Running Meme
Last month, J of Morning Runner tagged me to answer these questions! They are running related so I figured they would tie in with "motivation Monday".
What are you most proud of accomplishing in 2010?
PR'ing at the Portland Marathon. I trained really hard for that race so it was wonderful to cross that finish line with a 28 minute PR!
What are your running goals for 2011?
I want to run a sub-2 hour half marathon in Fargo in May. I really think I have it in me to accomplish this!
What is your favorite race?
There isn't a race that I consistently do every year... A race I really enjoyed running was the Twin Cities 10 mile run which is ran on the day of the marathon. It's called the short cut to the capitol (the marathon concludes at the capitol). You get to sort of experience the buzz of marathon day so it's a cool race!
What is your favorite holiday guilty pleasure?
Drinking holiday beverages from Starbucks or Caribou Coffee. They are pricey and very caloric so I don't allow myself many!
What is your most embarrassing running moment?
Probably my disappointing half marathon that I ran in the spring of 2007. I was not at all prepared so was pretty miserable. My body was not in proper shape to run 13.1 miles and it revolted against me. I had a friend visiting from out of town and was too sick afterwards to entertain her. :(
I am terrible at coming up with people to tag, so either any some/all of the questions in the comments or do this on your blog!

Photo Meme
Happy Thursday! Thank you for all of the sweet comments yesterday! I've got comments yesterday & in the past asking me how I lost the weight - I promise to do a blog post on that soon!
Speaking of transformations & changing your life - check out the photo that Carolina John of Smoke Training posted this week as part of a photo meme. Be sure to then scroll down and see how much he has changed! As his blog header states, he went from smoking 26.2 cigarettes a day to running 26.2 miles in a day. His story is proof that anyone can change their life if they really want to! He's running a full marathon later this month & I just know he is going to PR!
John tagged me to participate in the photo meme. I am supposed to go to my 1st photo file and share the 10th photo in that file. The first photo file is "Andrew" - each nephew gets their old folder where I file away the countless photos I take of them!
This photo is shortly after Andrew was born back in June of 2005.

It's hard to believe he's grown from that tiny little bundle to this:

I can't believe how fast he's growing up!
My 4 nephews definitely hold a very special place in my heart! I can't imagine life without them!
Do you have any nieces or nephews?
Oh, and you should totally do this photo meme on your blog!
