Ten on Tuesdays

1. What is your favorite travel destination spot?
I'd have to say Paris. I fell head-over-heels in love with that city. It's so charming and romantic. Everything I hoped it would be and more. If I was really wealthy, I'd totally buy a flat in the Marais area. I also think I'd be dating if I lived in France. Or at least I'd be pursued! When I was in France for 3 weeks, I actually got hit on - which never really happens back here in the US! Not that I would move somewhere just because it would mean I might get hit on... err, well, it wouldn't be the only reason I'd move!

2. Cats vs. Dogs.
Don't hate me, but I must say neither. Sorry, I know there are a lot of animal lovers out there. I am allergic to cats and dogs scare me. Unless they are really small and non-threatening... I hope we can still be friends.

3. Do you believe in fate?
Yes, I do believe that some things are just meant to be. I think it's all in the hands of God, though. So it feels like fate to us, but it's all just part of His master plan.

4. Do you believe in karma?
I kind of do. I think what goes around comes around.

5. Everyone has a unique laugh. Do you like yours?
I'm sort of ambivalent. I don't hate it, I don't love it. I couldn't even describe what it sounds like, actually!

6. Is love really all you need?
From a completely practical standpoint - no, love is not all you need. But putting practicality aside, I side with the father on Meet Joe Black (one of my favorite movies!):

"To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived."

7. What’s your take on the whole 2012 scare?
Hmmm... I must be a bit out of the loop. I don't know what this is referring to! I have no fears about 2012! Someone please comment and tell me what this is referring to!

8. If you won a million dollars and had to give it all away, who would you give it to? (Family and friends not included.)
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I have been so blessed with 4 healthy nephews. I can't imagine watching a child suffer from a disease!

9. Do you believe in God/religion/the power of prayer?
Absolutely! I'm Catholic & love my faith. I really do think prayer helps. I know have benefited from the countless prayers my mom has said for me!

10. What New Year’s Resolution do you always make but never keep?
I actually don't have something that I make & don't keep. I just started doing resolutions last year and have been really successful!

Haha, the 2012 thing is referring to the fact that the world is going to end. (Kind of like the Y2K thing only on a more destructive scale).

I always got confused with "Meet Joe Black" and "Mighty Joe Young", and I can never remember which one has Brad Pitt and which one has the gorilla... :)

I am so looking forward to Paris in May. I may have to pick your brain some.

I didn't know about 2012 either! Doomsday things creep me out...

i'm with you on the animal thing. there is no need for any of them.

and fate, predestination, that's all great stuff. everyone has a purpose and we all have to just keep going until our purpose is served. i love the lack of responsiblity you get when you turn everything over to God. put it all in his hands and I don't have to worry about anything anymore.

Yea, according to the Aztec Calendar the world will end in 2012. If it's true, well no sense worrying about it since there's nothing you can do about it, and if it's not (which I believe) then it'll be a bunch of hype for nothing.

I loved Paris too! I only spent a long weekend there, but absolutely loved it. I think I could just wonder aimlessly in that city for days and never get board...

In response to Carolina John: By completely trusting in the divine providence of God, we have more responsibilty for our lives than those who don't! I trust in his care for me, but I must do my part everyday to receive that grace! By completely following his guide for us, we must pray unceasingly, and that is no small task, but the rewards are great! God Bless!

I am going to answer the questions right here!

1. So far it's Base de Normandy in France. I loved Paris, but there was something more 'real' about rural areas for me.

2. Dogs! Cats are sneaky dude.

3. Nope - you make your own life I reckon.

4. Sort of, but I don't think it's universal.

5.Yes, even if I do snort sometimes when I do a big laugh!

6.No. Love goes along way, but lets be practical. I need - a roof over my head, clothes and books, and enough food and water to stay alive.

7. I think it's unlikely, but really, if it's going to be the end of the world, what's the point in worrying. we'll all snuff it anyway.

8. The RSPCC, The Big Issue, York Hill Children's Hospital, and Diabetes Uk, and I'd donate some to Dave's lab.

9. No. I am atheist.

10. To become healthy. I am healthier, but really, I like rich food and alcohol to much to get all the way there.

2012- the world is supposed to end on 12/21/2012. While I don't think the world will end there is some very interesting atmospheric things taking place (like solar flares that will be their strongest on 12/21/2012 which will interfere with electricity and etc) and some say that the poles on the earth will shift. I don't think it will be mass chaos, I just thing Mother Earth is going through "her change" or something and it just so happens it will happen in 2012.

LOVE that quote from Meet Joe Black. I haven't watched that movie in forever. Might be time.

Paris. Sigh. Haven't been. Can't wait to go.

Oh I love St. Judes! My former company (the one that closed) donated regularly to St. Judes and it has just kind of stuck with me. I buy Christmas gifts every year from their website and try to donate as much as possible.

I also truly believe in Karma. Treat others the way you want to be treated... What goes around comes around.

That's so funny about getting hit on in Paris- I find that basically every other country I get hit on much more frequently than in the US. Which is okay with me...but I do think guys here tend to be more picky in general haha, annoying.

I'm not really an animal person either so I hear you.

That's so wild that you didn't know about 2012! Wouldn't that be terribly anti-climactic if the world ended?

Anyways, it's based on the Mayan calendar ending in 2010 but according to Mayan scholars that doesn't mean the world ends, the calendar just starts over. It's like how we mark centuries. Only there's a lot of money to be made from fear I guess.

LOL! I love the fact that you've managed to avoid the whole mayan calendar, the-world-ends-in-2012 thing. I'm with those who thinks it's all just a misunderstanding of what it's all supposed to mean. There's a film out with John Cusack in it called 2012 that'll probably explain it all really graphically. ;)

And I'm totally with you on the love thing - you need some practical aspects too, but it's a sad life that has never been touched by love.

I would rather have a dog over a cat any day...they are too sneaky for me!

I can't say if I like or dislike my laugh...my other half says that I sound just like my mom when I get really laughing..not sure if that's a bad or a good thing!!

You always have the BEST quotes on here! I LOVE the quote you used in #6. So nice and so true!

The Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012 and recently a movie was made about it with John Cusack!

Oh how I wish I haven't heard of the 2012 nonsense!! If the world ends.... I guess my plan is to run the streets screaming.

Way to go on being so true to your resolutions!!!

I have an 80lb golden retriever who would literally roll over and want her belly rubbed upon meeting you. I promise she is nothing to be scared of, shes afraid of little tiny dogs and some cats.

St. Jude's holds a special place in my heart too.

2012 (Dec.... 21st I believe?) is the end of the Mayan calendar so people will be the end of the world as we know it. Does that mean total destruction or is it metaphorical? (like we go back to more humble beginnings). I hope it's the latter. I've got too much stuff planned for 2013+ lol!

Found your blog via Amber at A Little Pink.

Some people think that because the Mayan Calendar ends with 2012, that it will be the end of civilization.

Others believe maybe it will be a time of spiritual enlightenment.

I am pretty sure it is going to be like the whole Y2K scare!

Guys in Paris do love hitting on Americans. Something I found to be really weird (because it's different from America) is that the guys will totally stop talking to you if you say you have a boyfriend. They do not waste any time or energy.
