I digress. Here is the recap for April!
Music:
For the Summer by Ray Lamontagne & the Pariah Dogs - If this month's music has a theme, it's "chill". I also bought the newer Ray Lamontagne CD. I love the song For the Summer (and the whole CD).
Books:
Sammy's Hill by Kristin Gore - this is quite possibly one of the WORST books I have ever read. And it was my pick for the blogger book club, so I feel like I should be banned from making suggestions for awhile. It's a horrible book and the shocking thing is that they published a sequel... WTF?
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain - This is the May book for my local book club... which is dissolving after this month. :( It a historical fiction novel based on Ernest Hemingway's first marriage. The was a whole lot of infidelity in this novel. It was a good/interesting read, and it was well written, but it was difficult to read at certain times. I might do an actual review on this this month...
The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz - Yep, another book set in Paris. I just can't get enough - I bought 3 memoirs set in Paris last month... I'm clearly obsessed. I figure if I can't move there, I might as well read about those who have. This book was a fun read - it's a collection of short stories about adjusting to live in Paris as an Expat and each story ends w/ a recipe or two.
Miles:
Not my best mileage month. I was feeling under the weather for a good portion of the month... and then was overwhelmed by reviewing for the 7... and then I just basically took over a week off from running. I am back on track now, though, and 10k training starts in a couple of week. May will be a better month for miles, I just know it!
Looks:
I haven't purchased this outfit yet, but I am pining for it. I love blazers. I love stripes. I must have this.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your book club book!! :S
Love that photo - I am in love with blazers too!
I like that you read so many Paris books :) And that outfit's going to look AWESOME on you!
Love the blazer - go for it! Sorry to hear your book club is dissolving - hope it wasn't because of the book you recommended! ;) May will go fast and then you will be test free! Yeah! We are excited for that, but not as much as you! Enjoy the CD's you bought!
I love *anything* Ray LaMontagne. ANYTHING. He's one of my favorites. That CD is a pretty good one. I should revisit listening to it =)
I can't believe that it's May and furthermore, that it won't be above 50 degrees today... Mother Nature is not pleasing me right now!
Do you have any races planned coming up? Hope your studying is going well!
I'm sorry to hear your book club is coming to an end. I used to be part of one, but it fizzled after a year. I haven't looked for one here yet.
I love the blazer!
I was trying SO HARD to find a good blazer when I went shopping with my mom on Friday and could not find one I liked anywhere! Grumble. I really need a good blazer for work.
That one you posted is super cute, I love it!
I'm sad the book club is dissolving :( I only participated once but it was lots of fun!!
Amos Lee supplied a great deal of "road" music on the trip when we moved to AZ! Isn't he great?!
Amos Lee & Nora Jones should marry and make babies. They would create extraordinarily talented little munchkins.
I love that outfit, and I think you deserve it after all the studying and hardwork you've been putting in!
Ray Lamontagne and Amos Lee make for an awesome month of music!! Oh and I can tell you are missing Paris already... :)
Sad your local book club is dissolving, good thing you have ours :) Though I am having a really annoying time getting this months book. And you are not banned from making suggestions- you've made lots of good ones before and it was definitely entertaining how bad Sammy's Hill is.
I can't wait for you to be done with this exam, not because I'm sick of hearing about it just because I feel bad for you!
Yes, I Love that blazer. Perfect for the sunny months! I need to get more cute, wearable jackets and blazers for work and dressing up for evenings/fun weekend events.
Always impressed at how many books you are reading. Sometimes I tell myself I might read more if I had a kindle. But the jury's still out. I think I'd get too sucked into everything else I currently do after work.
Lisa---I ALWAYS love your posts :) Guess what??? I got "The Paris Wife" as a gift at my bridal shower this weekend :) Can't wait to read it!! And Ray LaMontagne is one of my alltime favorite artists. In fact, Jas and I are dancing to his "You are the Best Thing" on July 16th :)
THANKS FOR SHARING ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!
I really want to read The Paris Wife. Is it an easy read or is it something I would have to put a lot of thought into? (Asking because I may try to read it sleep deprived with an infant, or hold out for awhile hahaha.. )
That is a great outfit!! Especially the pants!
I have been in the market for a cute, casual blazer that I can wear with jeans! That outfit is really pretty, and those colors would look fantastic on you!
I'll look forward to your official review of The Paris Wife. I think I'm mixing that one up with a similar title in my head. I'm almost done with Americans In Paris (about ex-pats living in Paris during the WWII occupation -- very good, but not light reading!). I'll be curious about the other as well. And both those music selections look good. Must click and learn more!
