Wine:
- A male counterpart who can't seem to wrap his mind around the fact that I am not an admin. Not that I have anything against admins - I don't. It's just that is totally not my job. But he thinks - she's female she must be an admin. Grr....
- Not getting enough sleep. It's uber annoying that I get tired mid-afternoon and then get my 2nd wind right around 9 pm. My internal clock is so messed up. I've had a couple of nights where I've gotten about 3 hours of sleep, which is not nearly enough for me. Thank God for coffee!
- Arrogance. I firmly believe it's one of the most unattractive qualities in a human being I've had some encounters with exorbantly arrogant people lately and it makes my skin crawl.
- Having dinner with some girlfriends on Saturday night. It was one of those night where I drove home, smiling ear-to-ear and thought - I am really lucky to have some amazing friends! Life is pretty stressy these days, so a carefree, fun evening was just what I needed!
- Being an aunt again to a beautiful baby boy.
- Moving. I am moving in a little over a month (more to come on this later). Yes, I have my work cut out for me, but holy batman, this is going to have such a positive impact on my life. I will live .7 miles from work. Adios 40 minute commute in the car/bus. Adios cat-in-a-stroller pushing residents. Hello 10 minute walk!! Hello young, single, 30-somethings that live in my new building. I am as happy as a bird with a french fry.
- Showing off my karate kick to my friend's 4 year old - and totally impressing him.
- Having dinner at my brother's on Tuesday night. The convesation with my brother & sister was awesome and the time with my 2 nephews was priceless. I came home with a couple of drawings by Andrew, the soon-to-be 6-year old!

So excited about the move - and I agree, arrogance (especially about the admin stuff), is irritating and exhausting!

I'm currently loving the new nailpolish I bought, OPI Strawberry Margarita. Its the perfect bright shade for summer. And I'm loving the fact that the sun has been out!

Wine: the pending state gov't shut down really pisses me off. I could be without a paycheck for awhile.... Bailey having a couple of accidents in the house after months of not.
Love: Getting back into my research for long stretches. I was able to chat with my best friend for an hour on the phone last night and get caught up. Coffee in my cup and the sun shining outside.
Wine: Another weekend of rain predicted! Ugh!
Love: Sunshine today and knowing I will see 4 of my 5 grandsons this weekend!
Ahhh! That is annoying about the guy who thinks you're admin. Like you said, nothing wrong with administration....but this idea that "Oh. She's a woman, and dressed well. She must be my secretary" is just wrong.
You are so blessed to be living in a place where you can have dinner with family. What I wouldn't give for that... :)

OMG. This blog post made me laugh out loud on so many levels. The bird with a french fry saying (which I've never heard by the way), the people pushing cat in the stroller (maybe I should try that?) and you showing your friends kid how good you are at a karate kick. All SO SO hilarious! Can you please demonstrate said karate kick in August? Thanks!
I firmly believe how you feel about where you live (and other things in your personal life) is reflected in how you carry yourself and how you interact with others. I'm really excited for this upcoming move and cannot wait to hear about your new digs!

Arrogance annoys the crap out of me too. In both men and women. I don't understand people that don't have any empathy either. Is it really that hard to remove yourself from your own situation and put yourself in someone else's shoes? I think it really is for some people...
And the sleep thing. I cannot seem to recover from vacation. I took a nap yesterday (which I never do) and slept 9 hours last night and still feel tired....
I think we all need to see the karate kick, k?

Being on strike for the first time in my life (and in the history of my union). It is tough on the teachers and students, and really stressful.

Your coworker's beliefs about what jobs women should be having...ridiculous. So glad the moving thing is working out. And I loooove a fabulous girls night. It's so good for the soul.

I forgot to congratulate you the other day on your new nephew!! I think I may have been a tad jealous that I was still in labor hehehe.. ;)
Oh my gosh I used to sit by the fax machine and the (usually older) men would ask my how it worked, or why it was broken or which way to put the paper facing...even though there was a sign on the darn thing stating all these things. They would have never asked a guy the same thing.
