Wine and Love v2

Wine:
- My Tuesday morning.  It included nearly getting stuck in a dress because I could not get the zipper down, trying on multiple dresses and realizing some dresses I recently bought are just too short for the office, and not being able to figure out where my cleaning service people had put the pan I use to make my eggs each morning.  It was just not my day.
- Not being able to be with my mom on Mother's Day... and not getting to meet my newest niece or nephew right away when the baby is born later this month.  I could never live close to my parents as I am a city girl, through and through, but I don't always love living 4+ hours from them.
- After telling someone I have been spending a lot of time studying, I heard this comment:  "Oh, I wish I could be more like you and put myself and my needs first.  But I am always putting others first."  Um, ok.  Not sure what to say to that.  So I am selfish for studying?  Right.  Because it's SO MUCH fun.

Love:
- Finally being able to take the heating blanket off of my bed!  Thank God the cold weather is behind us!
- My running pace improving.  I've taken about 30 seconds/mile off in the last 4 weeks.  Here's hoping that my pace continues to improve!
- Dreaming about a fall destination half marathon - most likely on the west coast.  Fingers crossed I can make this work!!
- They are making a running path around the lake that is a mile from my condo - so soon I will be able to run by the water without having to drive anywhere!  Woo hoo!

What's your wine/love for the week?

Gosh, I wouldn't consider studying as putting oneself's needs first! Studying for this test isn't a need but rather a necessity! Go figure! That remark would smart! I wish you did live closer, too, but it's so comforting to know that you do have "family" close by in your brother and family and aunt and family! Makes me feel warm inside!

I was reading this in my reader and thought you were Nora the entire time (?) then clicked out and was like, Lisa! Wow, I am tired. Must be the graphic. ;)

Ummm, we need to put ourselves first. Especially if you're not married or have kids. I completely get it and no, you are not selfish!

Living far away from my parents is tough for me too. I completely understand what you're going through.

You're almost there! You are SO going to ace this test!

I think there is a fine line between putting our own needs first or always thinking of others, but studying definitely does not cross that line in my opinion. Also, I think it can be really helpful to take care of yourself so that you can better help others if they need it. :)

super awesome about your running! Way to go you =) You and Knight are going to smoke me this summer, but that's ok! I'm so glad it's going well for you.

And so cool about a running path by your lake. That's definitely cause for celebration.

Oh and that comment your friend made? Totally uncalled for. You still put other people first in your life; it's called BALANCE! And you do it well! So there.

Wth?!? People who are constantly putting others first don't make hurtful comments like that. I'm far from my family and from M's (Louisiana/Texas and Toronto), and it can be hard. I really wish I could see my mom and sister more often, but I can usually only do once or twice a year. That's awesome running news both about the speed and the new path!

Wow, that is quite the comment that person made to you. You are definitely not selfish by studying to better yourself! Crazy person.

I live a two day drive from my parent's and 3 hours from my in-laws so I know how it feels! But it makes seeing them that much better!

Wine: Sunshine?
Love: You were able to be with us Sunday evening.

I looked at my calendar this morning and saw June 4th and thought: yes!!!

I love how one day you're talking about the need to move away from Minneapolis and the next day you're lamenting about how Minneapolis isn't close enough to your parents. You really are in the middle of figuring this all out, aren't you!?! =)

There are lots of CA half marathons near me. Just saying.

Oh man, Tuesday morning was a doozy! I hate those kinds of mornings where things just seem to catapult - one after the other!

I participated in Wine and Love for the first time this week! It was fun!

Can't believe someone made that comment to you about the test by the way!!! I think people really don't get how intense and hard all that studying is!!

Here's my response from Amber's post.

Wine…
my right leg/glute/hammy issue is bugging me a bit more lately and I know I should go see the PT, but I really don’t want to.

Summer weekends are nearly all booked. This makes me want to scream. Where is the time to relax? I mean some of these things are fun, but still. Weddings, babies, racing, etc.

At work we’re moving into our brand new building on Monday so we’ve been packing up boxes and moving crap for the last two weeks. On the up side, my desk is practically bare right now!

Love…
I can just feel summer is on its way.

Manfriend and I are taking a week off work to do some camping in June. Vacation much needed.

Yuck, that person's comment was a projection of their own crap and had nothing to do with you!! Either that or they have never studied for anything of this magnitude, because it is about as far from fun "me time" as humanly possible!!

I also love that your "love" list is longer, and that you are doing this again!

Wow I am stuck on that weird studying comment!!!! Clearly studying is not bringing you a ton of happiness and its a dumb comment to begin with. Also people who talk ab how much they do for other people are not that impressive!

Anyway I'm glad your love list is longer, I hope mine is tonight!

I like all of these, but sorry about Mum's Day -- too close to Easter this year, I guess.

How about this race: http://www.ushalf.com/ (it's a bit expensive though)

Or...anything! If you pick one on the west coast, I would totally do it with you!
